Without any gold subscription XBOX ONE did let me play multiplayer in HALO 5 for few days. Suddenly since yesterday it is asking for gold membership. :(
The question now is are there any online multiplayer games in xbox which works just with xbox silver subscription.
Uh….. Dragon's Dogma works with a silver…?
But for the kinds of games you want, you'll need gold. That's console videogames for you. If you wanted to play online without paying a subscription you shouldn't have bought an Xbone or PS4. That's why I changed to PC at the turn of the generation (ex-PS3 masterrace) Not paying more for games I already bought lol.
Gold is probably worth it, though, because they throw free games at you every now and then.

2x Xbox One games and 2x Xbox 360 games that are backwards compatible on the Xbox One.
You can try LAN connection but that will need 2 Xboxes
none that i know of… all online play requires gold.
you may play supported game on a single xbox (ie split screen) … i dont know if any xbox one games support lan play.
