City Beach Dodgy Tactics ?

Went in to buy a Adidas hat today for $30, all the sticky price labels on the Adidas tag said $29.99. Scanned at $29.99 too.

Then I found one without the sticker price but with a seperate price tag that had two prices - one was NZD 29.99 one was AUD 24.99. Obviously went and got my $5 back but made me wonder if this was a genuine mistake or not.

Seemed dodgy that all the labels had been removed and replaced with stickers with the higher dollar price? Either way I saved a fiver cos I was gonna pay full whack for it, but it has made me wonder if this is common practice?

  • used to be everything had a price sticker on it, but yes, it is common practice for stickers to be used to amend product/price label information…

  • maybe someone swapped the stickers on another same branded product but different line? that happens alot too.

    • Nah, The lower price label was the kind attached with the plastic tab all of the higher were sticker type

  • Maybe the price went up and they hadn't changed that shirt's price yet

    • Yeah maybe, but they were totally different types of price stickers

      • New stock? No idea. Have you tried asking the staff who work there to see what they say? I work in retail myself; things go up all the time unfortunately! My Clinique serum went up $5 …

    • Shirt?
      He was buying a hat!
…and you work in retail? :-)

      • In my defense, I worked all day (my colleague called in sick so I had to stay back) and wasn't paying proper attention. Sorry

  • I could be wrong, but the label could be the RRP (Recommended Retail Price). Shops don't have to offer it at that price, although many do (or for even less). So still not cool if they're selling it above the RRP, but within their rights to.
