PS4 DLC Region Locking Issue

I've been an idiot and did the following:

  1. I bought Dragon Age Inquisition as a physical disc in Australia
  2. Played and finished the game using my US PSN account
  3. Bought the Trespasser DLC on my US PSN account

I now discovered DLC's are region locked, and I'm unable to play the DLC.

I could re-buy the DLC from the Australian PSN store, but my save games are on my US account. Can I just install as normal, and then switch to my US account to play it?

    unsure if that will work.

Sony are pretty strict with their regions and DLC. The only way is to try it unfortunately

Okay so basically the way it works is the DLC must be the same region as the game,
but any account can play once its installed.
In short yes you can play with the US account but you must by the dlc from the same region as the game.

    • Ok, cool. I guess I'll just buy the AU version of the DLC, and then play it on my US account.

But for next time, remember to have 2 accounts.
First account for ONLY Australia PSN, Australian games, and Australian DLC.
Second account for ONLY overseas PSN, overseas games, and overseas DLC.

        And don't mix them up.

Fan favourites for overseas accounts seem to be:
Hong Kong and Canada = for cheap psn, games, and dlc
US = for uncensored games, dlc
Japan = for japan exclusive games, and dlc

I would choose just one overseas account if I were you.
I haven't opened a new account for myself yet, but I am thinking of either Canada (cheap games), USA (for South Park game), Japan (for Basara games).

  • It doesnt matter which account you use it to play, so as long Disc and DLC region is the same. I.e. buy DLC from Aus store and continue using the US account to play.
