Best Budget Durable Earphones for Kids?

Hiya,

I have a 12, 10 and 7 year old who all use earbuds for when they use their 3DS/iPod/mobile phone for entertainment.

They keep getting one side die due to the thin copper wires snapping from being bent/coiled tightly even when I keep telling them to do loose loops. They have wrecked standard ones that come with iPod, OzBargain Ultimate Ears ($5-10) and various discounted earphones from other OzBargain deals.

Can anyone recommend what is a cheap durable alternative?

And before anyone suggests it, the kids have already had to use their own pocket money to buy the replacements which broke, and they also have had the faulty one ear working and the second ear sometimes working phones for several months as a consequence and lesson in looking after their things and not getting automatic replacements. :)

The older ones already have decent headphones so I don't need to go down that path. Am after earphones for when they want something that isn't bulky, like when on the bus to school.

Many thanks :)

Budget and durable must be oxymorons.

Your best bet might be to just buy multiple cheap ones from ebay and replace as necessary.

I find the flat cable earphones tend to last longer. 4 years ago I bought 7 pairs from DHgate during a some freak sale for US$1 each. I'm still on the first pair. I use them at home for my laptop and on the train to work and on the plane (on the plane they are excellent with blocking out external engine noise).

here are some inexpensive ones for US$0.69 (red colour only) US$0.75 each (for black or white) delivered from aliexpress. feedback/reviews seems very good for them

order 2 pairs. see how they are. if they are good then order 10. stick them in a draw. they will get used eventually.

i've just ordered 3 pairs of them (US$2.07 delivered) as my kids go through headphones quickly -either losing them, stepping on them, slamming them in the car door, etc etc. (though usually they are the el cheapo headphones from jetstar)

  • Get your kids to take the buds out and listen to the birds.

There's a trick I've seen where people super glue the joints of the headphones that apparently works pretty well for this sort of thing.

I had to check I didn't post this, as the issue is exactly the same at my house.
I can chime it we have tried knock off Xiaomi, SONY and Philips sub-$10 models without much luck.
