Windows 10 Home to Pro Upgrade

Hi guys, need to upgrade 15 windows 10 Home (installed on a Gigabyte Brix) to Pro for work. Do you know where to get a better deal than the $99.99 RRP?

I saw this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/254242 which suggests buying win7 pro and then upgrade it. But i want to avoid having to install the OS again on 15 computers.

  • You can buy Windows 10 Pro itself from same vendor moonboxsoftware

    • A business would be crazy to open themselves to that sort of risk buying from Moonbox, which is obviously selling MSDN keys that they shouldn't be. They've been discussed enough times here before. Individuals yeah whatever, I'm sure MS don't care (or they care but don't bother chasing)

      But a business? No way.

OP - As far as I know resellers don't have access to resell Anytime Upgrades now so you're fairly limited in your options.

      • agreed! everything needs to be above board.

        • Disagreed, Viva La Piratas !!!

  • +1

As you don't want to 'reinstall' the OS at all etc and this is a business, your best path is to do the 'any time' upgrade from within the OS and buy it that way.

Most other paths will require a reinstall of the OS.

    • fair enough… looks like $100 a piece is the only way then.

      • where are you getting $100 from. Looks like its almost $300 a pop on the Microsoft site.

        • It used to be $100, now it's $150. This is the upgrade from home to pro. $300 is a brand new Pro license I think.

        • can you provide a link for this?

That no longer works, as free upgrades are no longer available.

    • there's a way around it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgra…
      tested and worked.

      • Its a way around it to get a free w10 upgrade, but being a 'business', you're in a grey area. As you technically don't meet the requirements for the free upgrade. So if MS comes knocking for a audit, they'll say no to it being a valid licence.

Plus this requires a OS reinstall of W7 then W10, which you said you didn't want to do.

        • Understood and agreed. I only mentioned that so elusive becomes aware. I tested on my personal computer and it worked.
