Wrong Power Adaptor for Nexus 5x - eGlobal Digital Cameras

Hey all,
I bought the Nexus 5x from this deal.

When it arrived, the LG power adaptor doesn't fit into the Australian wall socket converter that they provided. Did anyone else have this problem? The pins on the LG adaptor are 5.18mm diameter, but the socket on the power adaptor is 4.37mm wide (measured with a vernier), so they're not even close..

On asking for a new one to be sent out, I was told "Thank you for your message and confirmation that you have received your order safely. We can confirm the adapter we have included is the correct one. Please see our attachment as this shows how to connect the phone charger to the travel adapter. You will need to give a little force for the LG adapter to connect to the travel adapter."

On my explanation as to the fact that they just won't fit, and the attached photograph, they said I should seek an RMA. Does this mean they won't send a new one until the current one has been returned to Hong Kong and they 'assess' it?

  • I don't mean to be a dick, but who doesn't have 4 or 5 of these spare kicking about?

    • Not for a double sided USB-C cable.

What does this have to do with anything? He's talking about the adapter for the overseas power supply.

        • So is your comment of "Who doesn't have 4 or 5 of these" refer to the overseas adapter or a USB power point? If it's the latter, the Nexus 5x charger cable that the phone comes with is a double ended USB-C cable so doesn't fit in those adapters.

If it's the former, I've never known people to have multiples of them…

You've never known anyone to have more then one overseas power adapter? LOL I have around 20 various types and I know many people that have more then five.

Anyone who purchased electronics from overseas will have plenty of them.

Sheesh talk about a crazy arguement, it's clear that both myself and sir cock are talking about the overseas power adapter. Why anyone would think the comment was about everyone having four or five USB type C chargers is beyond my comprehension.

It's eGlobal, don't even worry yourself with the stress of getting it replaced, just buy another one (which are easily enough to find…)

I had an identical issue with a Kogan power adapter.
I used a 5mm drill to make it work. Make sure you just drill the surface plastic.

It's quite a snug fit - the transformer doesn't fall out.

Just buy a new one from any department store or travel shop or order one on ebay. It's a $5 to $10 item in a store.

The two I have at home don't fit the large LG adaptor.

I've never bought from them before, seems like they have pretty poor form with this sort of stuff.

    Thanks

  • I had the exact same problem. The LG plug is most likely the type used in India, the pins being slightly too large to fit in the supplied adaptor which I think is designed for plugs from Europe.

Eglobal asked me to upload a receipt for the correct adaptor I purchased and they refunded me $18 if I remember correctly.
