Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Connecting to Google

Recently I purchased a Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime from a seller on aliexpress that had very positive feedback both on aliexpress and other websites (there was a reddit thread among other things).

Upon receiving it, I updated it with the current global stable rom downloaded from their website. However, when I then connected the google play store, the email notification said

"Hi quietsarcasm, your account was just used to sign in on Acer Iconia"

That is an Acer tablet.

What has other people's experience been when connecting google services? Should I be concerned/opening a dispute?

Thanks in advance

    From whose website? The Xiaomi developer forums or a link provided by the seller?

    • http://en.miui.com

      This website, not one provided by the seller

      • can you please login to your Google account (the same one used to link your Redmi)

        https://security.google.com/settings/security/activity

        Your dashboard should look like this

        It will list devices connected to your account. Does it show up correctly?

        If it is not, I think it's just something wrong with your ROM. Maybe the device ID in the build.prop is not correct, or something is corrupt.

          Any idea why I got the email saying the Acer tablet?

          @quietsarcasm:

          A little glitch on Google's part.

          you should be fine. If you encounter any issues with app compatibility, just flash your ROM to something else, like MIUI 8 beta. oops this is not released yet, keep an eye on the forums for new updates that support it.

        • @scrimshaw: Thanks for the help, much appreciated
