Aftermarket in Car GPS Navigation Not Working

Hi all, hope this is in the right forum (mods please move if it fits better elsewhere)! I'd appreciate any help please.

MY after market Win-Ce based double din unit with GPS has Polnav software that has stopped being functional. It still seems to work , but the problem is that the font seems to have disappeared. All buttons are blank, there are no street names, numbers etc. I haven't used it for a while, but have now been motivated to try and fix it. My unit is out of warranty and the supplier wants about $50 for a new SD card with software.

Any hints on how it might be repaired? It would seem that a small part of the software has been corrupted. (I know I should have backed it up when new, but can't do that now).

Edit: have sent email to software comapny, but awaiting reply.

Hey mate, what's the brand and model number of your double din? I will use my Google-fu and see if I can track something down for you. :)

  • Does the rest of the unit still work fine, or are there issues anywhere else?

There's forums around for maps for these things, just have to do some searching and you should be able to find new maps, then put them on the sd card and off you go.

The problem will be if there's issues with the main unit, or the card reading abilities

i use an eonon, but should work with other wince sysatems
try changing from polnav to igo (version 8), see if that works, there are ways to do it with out paying another $50.. google should do it

    • i have an eonon as well, i also suggest to try iGo Primo 2.4, i tried iGo 8 and it seems slower than the primo, but anything is better than that awful Kudos I suppose :)
edit: I'm fairly certain that primo runs fine on most WinCE systems, there's one like a truck edition and others, so in your searches look for a generic one.

      • cheers, ill have a look at 2.4

  • Got one of those eonon.
Just make a copy of another unit and it should run again.
Also tried the IGO a while ago, but somehow on my unit crashed and corrupted itself a few times.
Maybe just the source of the safety backup hehe.

  • I got mine from elinz. Not sure what version, I tried to look last night, but all I got was an error message in chinese text.

Does anyone know a reliable source for iGo? I did try a version of igo a while back, but since it was designed for a lower res screen it wouldn't start either.
