Spray Cleaner (kill bacteria type) on LCD Screen

Hi guys, someone used a spray cleaner (antibacterial kill 99 percent of bacteria type) on one of the dell screens we have (Sprayed it onto a rag and wiped the screen with it). I know its bad to use, but the screen worked fine the rest of the day and looked fine. What are the chances that any larger problems could occur from this? (Of course not going to do it again)

    It'll be fine.
Maybe isowipe it to clean off residue, but ultimately, screens aren't that sensitive. Just dont run it under a tap

    • Thank you friend, I've been freaking out all afternoon in case I end up going back on Monday to see a broken screen. You have no idea how much better I feel right now. Definitely not something that guys going to do again.

my brother once sprayed one of those cleaners onto his macbook and cleaned it so thoroughly that the screen died the following day. I think it's down to the liquid seeping into the edges or pressing against the screen that caused the problem, rather than a specific type of cleaning liquid.

I have used Glen20 a few time on Dell XPS lappy with no visible problems, spray on center of screen and wipe clean with an old cotton singlet.(tissues come apart on the screen)

I do my Samsung Note and phones all over with Glen 20 and tissues to clean and polish for years.

  • Thanks everyone for all your help, I went back on Monday and everything was running perfectly. Definitely wouldn't recommend cleaning with that stuff, but it does seem that I may have super overreacted lol. Thanks all!! I wouldn't have been able to survive the weekend without the messages.

  • Do not spray liquid directly onto the display since water can get trapped inside the LCD assembly via the bezels (your laptop screen is not fully sealed - it's just screwed together). Spray into the cloth and wipe with it.

Or just buy some isopropyl wet wipes, they do the trick just fine.

For the keyboard (not the screen!) can also use Pine O Cleen but remember to not get it on the display unless you want wet soapy smudges on it.
