Should I Buy 2013 Lancer LX?

Found a deal that seems too good to be true. Wondering if you guys have any input?

  • private sale
  • 2013 lancer LX with 50000km on it
  • log booked, under warranty for 2 more years
  • new tyres at 41k km
  • good shape, nil overt damage
  • owner admits to having front end damage repaired by insurer (looks new)
  • drives well (10 min test drive)
  • $10k

What do you think? Gonna get a private mechanic to look at it this weekend and I'll buy if it's clear. Anything I should be watching for?

REVS check for finance owing and possible theft. Otherwise, it does sound like a good buy!

    • As long as it has actually been repaired properly. The owner might just be worried about a car with accident damage (there is another thread here about someone who is). It is also possible the owner is very picky about the repair work and thinks it isn't up to standard.

  • Just on the Mitsubishi Warranty front, have a read of http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/shopping-tools/warranty

    Read: the FAQ's including:
Does the New Vehicle warranty apply to my used Mitsubishi?
Check the service record in your service and warranty booklet to confirm all services have been performed at the required intervals. If you have any doubt regarding the service history, contact a Mitsubishi genuine service centre and arrange to have the vehicle inspected.

You should let us know when you have taken ownership of a Mitsubishi by completing and returning the notice of change of address or ownership in the back of your service and warranty Booklet.

Also, to get the 5 years, you have to complete the extended warranty registration validation (you’ll find it in the service and warranty booklet) and bring it along with your vehicle to your local Mitsubishi genuine service centre.

This must be done during the final 6 months of the initial warranty.

I'd certainly have a trusted Mechanic or your Auto Club do a check on it.
