Bali Accommodation and Things to Do

Hi Guys

I am travelling to Bali with my wife and my 22 month son. We wanted to do a trip just before he turns 2 :)
Can you guys please recommend any hotels which are kids friendly and activities that can be done when we are there.

We have a flight to Denpasar and are there for a week.

Cheers
Sid

Just putting it out there, I'm in a similar boat to op (Minus the kid, but wife may as well be one, the way she acts), so any general advice would also be hugely appreciated. Cheers.

Your son is too young for kids clubs and hotel activities so I'm not really sure it makes much difference where you stay.
Most of the 'kid friendly' hotels are aimed at slightly older kids so they have kids clubs, pool slides, kids activites etc which yours can't do. They are also fairly raucous as a result.
Most of the activities around the island I would normally recommend for families with kids will be the same - not suitable for a 2 year old.
I would also suggest you spend some time on the Tripadvisor Bali forum page - they are pretty good there.

You will need a driver, car and tour guide. This is the only way to travel in Bali, imho. Usually cost about $50 a day, comes with car and petrol, driver is also tour guide.

As for hotel or food, look in TripAdvisor because depending on your budget, it's hard to say. Bali have a wide range of hotels depending on your taste and budget. There is hotel for great beach view at $$$, there is hotel for good location to the Kuta (I hate the traffic), there is hotel for great relaxation and nature view at $$ (Like Ubud).

For travelling with a kid, I think Ubud is not good idea, unless he likes living in the forest. We stayed once, and inside our cottage there is a living huge gecko (maybe 1m long). Try Nusa Dua area, it's quite close to everywhere, yet price is not so expensive. Remember, their star rating is a bit higher than Australia, so if they say 4 stars, it's like 3 stars here. You are likely to get what you pay for. The lower star hotel have awful breakfast and poor hygiene that may cause diarrhoea. Try get some vaccine before you go.

You pick the right time to travel there, traffic won't be so bad, and weather won't be so bad either.

Don't go, the whole place stinks of shit. (Open sewers)

If you see my younger self, tell me to invest in Apple…

    Hi Sid
Our son was around that age when he first went to Bali. We tend to stay away from kuta/ seminyak, just because we dont like the "in your face" hawking etc. Sanur may be an option to look at. Check out a website called little bali love. That may give you some ideas :)
