TV LCD Panel Cracked by Kid, What Can I Do?

Hi all,
I've got a tcl 50inch LCD/LED tv from Harvey Norman sale last year. A few months ago, my kid through the remote control on the top left corner. And there came a crack like the glass inside the LCD panel. At first the tv still works except the webbed shape crack, then it turned to colorful vertical lines a few days later. I walked into Harvey Norman and they told me to ring tcl. And I called tcl, the guy there told me physical damage is not covered by warranty. Now what can I do? And how much is it to replace a LCD panel?
Many thanks!

How much to replace the kid?

Contact your contents insurer and make a claim for accidental damage.

Probably costs as much to repair it as it does to get a whole new one.

    • Likely even more.

Sit down before asking TCL how much a replacement screen is. Then go buy a new TV, ideally the same model used or on run-out so you have a spare main board, panel controller, power supply board, casing, etc. (?)

  • Was it purchased on a credit card? Depending on the type of card you have, some include accidental damage insurance on purchases

    • Thank u. I'll ask the bank this weekend.

  • TCL Tvs are pretty cheap. It would probably be a similar price to buy a new one then get it repaired. Something like this: http://www.2ndsworld.com.au/-id-49P1FS/?utm_source=gads&utm_…

    • Thanks, probably a new one then.

  • BUY A NEW TV…

  • sell kid to a sweatshop, buy new tv

  • Thank u guys,
I'll go to buy a new one then.

  • If you're a little handy then hang on to the TV and keep checking eBay for the exact same model but dead (but with intact LCD). Your tvs electronics would be fine. Buy and do a transplant. Incredibly easy to do.
