Roadside Insurance gotU - Anyone Had Experience?

Been seeing lots of ads in Sydney. Has anyone actually signed up?

On paper it seems perfect. You only pay as you need it and cost around $80 when you need to call them.
So, all long as you only making one call a year, its totally worthwhile.
I have paid $100 each year forever. So, far only had to use it 2-3 times.

What do people think?

  • And then if you need to call them twice, it's going to cost you twice as much? All insurance is a gamble.

  • i honestly would go with nrma , more expensive at 110 per year, and 60$ sign up fee, but alot of what gotU charges for is free on the basic nrma plan.

    • Depends, if you have a newish modern car and service it as per the schedule then the chances of a breakdown are minimal.

A lot of the services are for 'stupidity': locked keys in car, can't change a tyre, drained battery…

      • Yep. Mine is relatively new and reliable. So far its been 4 years with no callouts. Im guessing on average it has to ve same for most people. What is average callout for you guys?

  • Have never used this but am going to give it a go, only drive 2000 km per year and have never needed roadside assistance in the past. There is a code for 10% off your first time use 'TRAVEL'. If anyone finds some better promo codes please list them

    • Thanks. I am going to give it a go as well.
