WhatsApp and Facebook Share Data!!!

I just recieved a notification on my whatsapp announcing that it is to start sharing its user data with parent company Facebook.

The company says that the information will be used for ads on Facebook and WhatsApp, as well as helping to improve the messaging platform.

If you dont want to share your info don’t click “agree” – instead navigate to the smaller “read more” option, and untick the box that says “Share my WhatsApp account information with Facebook”

If you accepted the terms and conditions accidentally or without reading it, you can opt out in the settings —> account on share my account info option in 30 days upon agreeing it.

They always find a way to share our info for ads!!! Like a pharse saying, "There is no such thing as a free lunch"

What do you think guys? Do you want to share your info on whatsapp to Facebook for ads? Clearly a big NO for me!!!

If you're using Facebook still you clearly don't care about privacy given the company's constant attempts to undermine user's privacy in the past so I have no idea why you care about this.

    • Similar thoughts here. I also don't have much trust in Google or Apple, so I use Meizu phone with yunOS created by Alibaba. For the even more paranoid, you can go for Xiaomi with the official China rom with no Google.

However, we have most likely already lost the battle for privacy; so in a few more years time, basic information about a person will become common place. If it hasn't already happened. (There are already good publicly available databases with lots of legitimate information)

Do you use an iphone too? That explains it.

Facebook didn't buy Whatsapp to NOT use its data. Get real…
Subsidiaries almost always share data with their parent companies.

  • I uninstalled whatsapp for this very reason…
