I am Considering Buying $700 of Adrenalin Gift Cards from Woolies @ 40% off

Hi,

I am considering buying $700 of these gift cards during the upcoming 40% off (so $400 total spend) to use on 2 adult tickets at Byron Bay Ballooning.
Having never dealt with Adrenalin before I just wanted to ask if there are any obvious/known pitfalls to this idea and also if there are any additional/alternative ways I can save more on this.

Basically just wanted to ask those in the know if its a good idea or not to make this kind of investment in Adrenalin gift cards.

Thanks for your time I appreciate it.

  • Link to 40% off? Does adrenaline do any skydiving packages? If so I'd like to do the same :)

Its half way down under Fathers Day:

Coles have a limit of 5 in a single transaction last i checked, I dont know if Woolies has a limit.

      • Thanks, hopefully they don't have anything like "Only one gift card can be used per transaction" when you go to use them.

        • Hmmm, that is interesting.
However, I can't seem to be able to buy any Adrenaline Gift Cards through woolworths.com.au

          Anyone else having problems?
Or can someone post a direct link.

        • @Kangal:

You can't buy gift cards online

        • You can use 10 cards per transaction online. Infinite over the phone.

Only thing is, is say there's $30 left on a card after you pay with several cards, you don't know which card has the left over. You have to call them to find out.

There is a $5 booking fee online BBUUUTT there's cashback from cashrewards so it's worth the effort IMO

        • @Kangal: FYI sale starts 31/8

      • +1

Woolworths also have a limit FYI, I didn't try and fit it in the post but the ~ refers to:

~ Limit of 5 cards per customer/transaction applies. 40% off is based off the total price.

  • I did that a couple of years ago. No major drawback.

I find the overall quality of service may be lower since you are not dealing directly with the provider but that is the exception to the rule.

Don't forget your 5% off woolies eGift!

    • Hi thanks for the input, Woolies eGift does not exclude adrenalin cards then obviously? I will check the fine print later.

      • Woolies eGift is pretty much a prepayment method, you select it instead of "Pay by Card" and "Pay by Cash"
For fixed value gift cards (like rebel and SuperCheapAuto or Myer), it's almost a 100% success rate, without any assistance from an operator (self-checkout).
For variable value gift cards (like WISH cards), the system won't block it but requires an operator to type in the amount to be charged (amount to be put on gift card). Some staff won't allow it (Big W especially!) but some don't care.

If you're not sure just try buy one eGift card via Cashrewards (redirects to Woolworths gift card Portal).
It's worked for Opal topups as well :)

  • Go for it! No down side. Just pick the activity you're gonna do before you commit to buy the cards. You can't use the "$15 off" they advertise but 45% is much better ;o)

I've spent a crapload on adrenalin gift cards via these deals. It's a great deal. Did the same thing for hot air ballooning.

I have about 800 i just got from coles. I should've waited for Woolies but it had been a while since the last deal and wasn't sure when it'd happen.

  • Have a look on gumtree. I regularly see people selling RedBalloon/Adrenalin vouchers for 50-60% off face value.

  • Can't stack with their other offers when paying with giftcard.

When you want to purchase something you have to actually book it. eg when paying with a giftcard if you want to do a skydiving thing you will have to book the date as opposed to just purchasing a skydiving thing with open ended date. They count that as purchasing a giftcard with a giftcard and don't allow it.
It can be annoying if you want to lock something in at a particular price but don't have a date ready or especially if you are trying to book something as a gift.
