Has anyone used budgetair.com.au to book domestic flights?

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has used budgetair.com.au to buy domestic flights within Australia? They seem to have the Qantas fare price that was on the Qantas direct website which have now gone up. I need to travel for university so I cannot afford a stuff up. It's about $100 cheaper with budgetair.

Thank-you.

  • Reviews aren't good, I wouldn't risk it if it was me.

  • It isnt worth it to save $100 if its important.

  • I have a feeling they'd hold your money for 48 hours to see if the price dips again like eDreams. I've booked with them for a Mexico - Madrid flight and it was fine although the booking said I was flying with Efata Papua Airlines which apparently went bankrupt 7 years before my flight so maybe they find some weird codeshare flights…

  • Just checked my transaction history and despite having an Australian presence (BudgetAir Australia), Australian website with .com.au, and all prices displayed in AUD (they're quite proud of that too, it's one of the key points on their home page) — and the transaction has come through from Amsterdam. It's even "Budgetair Australia Amsterdam NLD". So chuck on an extra $30 AUD in international payment processing they don't you about.

    Dick move. Definitely avoid.

    • Yeah I was hit 75 for international transaction fee too for 3 tickets. I left a review and mentioned it. Few days after, they emailed me and asked for bank statement. They said they will refund it in 7-10 days. But yes, it is only because they didn't mention it. Now that I know it, next time I will be charged international fee and can't complain -_-

      • Yeah I got it refunded. It looks like they know but rely on people not to notice.

        Regardless, the laws the law.

        • They said they usually have it listed out in the final confirmation page, listed with final charges. Did you see that? I don't think I saw any of it.

        • @purplelady: I recreated the transaction until the final click and screenshotted the entire process before I sent the initial support request, knowing that they'd probably try and pull something like that.

        • @taitems: oh ok, good one! It's annoying coz they're the cheapest. But next time I don't think they will honor it and will say you knew we charge international fee anyway :(

    • Did you report it to the ACCC? Would help others avoid being slapped with the same charges.

Could this be avoided if i paid via paypal? I'm looking at a flight that's much cheaper but unsure if i should commit given the issues raised here

  • Remind me never to book using www.budgetair.com.au ever again.

I booked some great flights from Melb -> LAX through a recent www.iwantthatflight.com.au special here using budgetair as the ticket issuer, and they cancelled the confirmed tickets a week later without warning. Whilst I was refunded, it meant I missed out on the special price as it was too late to book again using another intermediary.

The service from budgetair was absolutely woeful - do not use them!!

    • I’m having a problem since I paid them and never received a ticket. They say they’re in the process of refunding me but it’s been almost 2 weeks now. Do you know how long your refund took?

  • dont risk
