Polish or Cut and Polish

HI Guys,

Got a van recently and it had vinyl stickers on it. Have removed the vinyl stickers and cleaned the glue off. The problem is when you stand near it you can still see a faint outline of where the vinyl used to be. What's the best way to remove it? Should i polish it out? If so do I use polish or cut and polish?

Thanks

    Hi,
I would think you will have to use some sort of cutting compound, the problem though , is probably the paint around where the stickers were has probably faded. So you might have to do the whole panels not just where the stickers were.
You could always take it to a PROPER detailer, they do paint corrections etc.

    cheers

    Neither, Czech Republic

  • Hi, like Ozzymac said, it has to be a abrasive polish - which provides some cutting.
The paint not exposed to the elements (which was below the vinyl and hence protected) will appear different if the car is old and the stickers were on for a long period.

If you like DIY, you can do it yourself using professional detailing tools - a decent polisher and a compund and polish. Else get it done by a professional if you haven't done it before.
