Best Ultra wide 21:9 Monitor for Work

Hey

I have an LG 25UM57-P which I had overclocked it to 2560 x 1440 @ 60 Hz. It is quite good for working with huge spreadsheets & watching movies on my MacBook Pro.
Now I want to buy another monitor for my work space. I bought this one for $200 @ MSY. I think they are discontinued now, so they aren't available now.

I was looking for different monitor but with 21:9 ratio. I was looking around $350 but the biggest possible screen. I know LG has like 29" one but i was wondering if any other companies make ultra wide monitors (like 27") that are as good as LG.

Cheers!

All of the 21:9 monitors around that price range will be 2560x1080, so you'll actually be sacrificing a fair bit of pixels. The next step up is something like the LG 34UM which is 3440x1440, but that's like $900 or so. This is my dilemma too - I have a 27in 1440p and want a 21:9 but don't want to lose screen real estate

I think for work 2560x1080 is good or 2560 x 1440. Because the font will look too small (for me). However, if you want to i think you can overclock the LG25UM57 up to 2560 x 1600. Not sure about the 29" one.
Have you seen any deals around for the 29" one. I was looking on eBay with the 15% deal but couldn't find one.

I know you can overclock to get a higher refresh rate, but how did you get extra pixels?

        • You don't know how to overclock additional pixels into existence? That's how all panels are made now … they just overclock existing panels real hard until new displays pop out.

        • @kywst: Hahaha, thats what I was trying to get at…. i don't think its physically possible to overclock the resolution.

        • There are different types of software: I use SwitchResX. Its quite good.
