Xiaomi Redmi 3S (prime) - Anything wrong with it?

Hi all,

Looking at buying a 5 inch Android for around $200 and the Redmi 3s/3s Prime look pretty good. I'm not really all that clued up with banding etc but I'm on Amaysim which uses Optus.

Looks like you can get the international version here for around $200 AUD - http://www.geekbuying.com/item/International-Version-Xiaomi-…

Any reviews on this or ideas about how it would be to use mostly in Melbourne Metro?

Thanks

  • Spend an extra $20 and go for the Redmi Note 3

Thanks but it has to be 5 inches maximum. Small hands.

      • Maybe Xiaomi Mi4c @ $150.

        5" / SD808 / FHD

        • Note no SD card on the Mi4c

As for the 4G bands, it has all except the magic 700mhz band 28 (Optus+Telstra).
That shouldn't be a problem for City areas but would help a little in rural areas. (travels a little further, penetrates buildings better)

      • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (SE, International, Global), not the same as Xiaomi Redmi 3S.
As posted above, can't go over 5 inches otherwise I would be recommending that phone.

I have been using the 2gb version for a few weeks now. Quite happy with it. Screen is nice enough, performance is fine (although not as snappy as a top spec phone) and battery life is amazing. Great phone for the price

  • I bought the 3/32gb version from geekbuying but it kept rebooting itself at random times during normal use out of the box. Wasn't sure if it was a hardware or software issue, but they were helpful enough in accepting it back for repairs. I don't think it's a common problem however as I've found nothing else online about the issue.
It worked really nicely aside from the reboots however :)

  • Redmi 3s prime is fantastic, go for it. Get it off ibuygou, they are trustworthy, it only costs AU 205
