Looking for a Fitness/Exercise Tracker

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a fitness/exercise tracker that can do the following:

  • show heartbeat especially during exercising;
  • show calories burnt;
  • show distance (by walking/running);
  • work without having mobile phone nearby;
  • relatively long-lasting battery - over one week?
  • around $200 mark.

I don't care if it can show caller ID or time, but if it can't show distance at least it has a timer function. I currently have a Moov which connects to mobile phone via Bluetooth; and if the phone is not nearby or out of battery, the tracker would stop tracking… I know there's armband for mobile phones; I prefer not having to wear one.

Your advice is highly appreciated!

    Fitbit Charge HR?

    get fitbit aria and will also sync your weight to profile
    Link it to myfitnesspal and you'll have a complete profile view of ur calories burnt vs eaten and your weight tracking

    There isn't a device that can show calories burnt accurately.

    Whatever you do, don't get a Magellan echo fit. The Magellan Active app is useless, it won't sync the watch to the phone, regardless of compatibility. You NEED a phone to get this to work.

    If your watch is broken, Magellan reps don't care about you. I called them up to ask for a fix and all they did was ask for my personal details. Why? I don't know. The first things they asked me was name and address.

    You can check the apps ratings and reviews:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magellan.m…
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magellangp…

    Everyone seems to have the same issue so steer clear of Magellan. The battery on my watch lasted a good 3 months before it borked.

    A fitbit would be the best way to go. They're reliable and relatively lightweight. A fitbit alta would fit your budget.

    Or you could wait until the xiaomi mi band 2 comes out. Xiaomi products are pretty popular amongst ozbargainers.

    A watch/band battery constantly measuring heart rate is not going to last 1 week?
    Samsung Gear Fit 2 is under $200.

    • For some reason some people like constantly checking up on wildly inaccurate heart rate readings.

  • Xiaomi Mi band 2, has everything you mentioned except the calories burnt, and is a quarter of your price, plus its waterproof, reviewed really well too

  • I can understand a car needing monitors, such as a speedo for speed and a tacho for revs and a trip meter for distances, temperature gauges for water + oil, etc etc

    but I don't under why people need them.

    • Some people refer to them as anxiety bracelets.

  • Thank you all for your input. FYI, I don't plan to wear it all day all the time; I only wear when I'm exercising. :)

    Fitbit has not allowed you to record blood pressure for almost 2 years now. So no Fitbit I say. I was considering Sumsung I was looking at the Band 2 but numerous people seem to have had issues with the band wearing through and cracking…so take Microsoft or Sony into consideration, I suggest.

    • thanks for your suggestion.
