Expandable USB Drive to Slot into iPad Mini

Hi there,

I'm looking for expandable storage for an ipad mini. Something similar to the iXpand from Sandisk where you plug the lightning adapter into the ipad and you can store apps, photos and what not. $75+ for a 32gb one is way too expensive. Are there any alternatives? I'd prefer a flash drive you can stick into the ipad rather than an external drive.

how about this 64gb lightning usb stick for US$21.99 delivered

get it for less than US$17.99 by setting up a new account (receive 100EB points=US$2) and then verifying your account using this link to receive a further 100 EB points=US$2. then a further 10=US$0.2 points by verifying your email address.

buy through the mobile site (as per above link) to get 2% off.

    • You are a legend. Thank you so much!

only if dropping the Apple is an option:

    $97 http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-tab-…
    * USB On-The-Go (run any cheap pedestrian USB stick you want with a simple $1 USB OTG cable/adapter)
    * MicroSD slot (64GB can be had for peanuts these days)
    * easily rootable (remove spyware and crapware that comes with the device & install apps that require 'root')
    * IPS display (good display with mediocre resolution but perfectly reasonoable for the size/price I think)
    * crappy cameras (not good if you value your photos)
    * USB Mass Storage support when connecting it to the computer (not just silly MTP)

All-in-all, far more freeing with storage and interacting with any USB stick without the Apple Tax.

apparently you can't understand my first sentence. I have no easier words for you, sorry.

Pasting irrelevant information isn't really called helping mate.

Take it easy and move on.

Your suggestions in this topic have just been fantastic.

Knowing that an alternative platform gives you what you want without any restriction is not irrelevant in my books. Plus MicroSD storage, which can be bought cheaply too. How would you rate your comment on relevance? Less or more than mine? Just feel like sticking your nose where it's not needed? Still can't understand my first sentence?

Ignore it and move on. Something which you could have easily done but felt compelled to respond.

  • Even though this thread is old, I'm going to give a little update. I received the USB today and it works fine, you need to install an app to get it to work. Seems like you can't transfer internal files into the USB (possibly? i'm still trying to figure it out). It works exactly like a microSD card, just pop some files on there and off it goes.

The white button pushing thingy is a bit loose when I received it. Overall I think it's alright for the price, thanks altomic!
