Thoughts on safety of light fitting adapters?

Been looking at buying some cheapie adapters like these E27 to B22. Should I be concerned about the safety of using these? Was planning on using them with the LIFX's I have sitting on my desk doing nothing.

  • I have read some bad reports on them because the wiring is exposed, and you can risk and electric chock if you touch the adapter in the wrong way.

  • I'd imagine that would invalidate any insurance policies you happen to have.

    Could be wrong.

  • I have a few and haven't had any problems. Do you have an Ikea nearby? They sell them if you want to get them from a local store.

    • +1

Are your adapters definitely E27 to B22? The only Ikea ones online are B22 to E27 which is the opposite of what the OP is asking for.

They do look a lot safer than the ones on eBay because they have plastic shrouding covering the metal components of the bulb.

      • Ahhh, my mistake. My adapters are B22 to E27.

  • Should be fine I think unless you are changing the adaptor/bulb frequently.
