  • nice find

  • available in all ALDI stores?

  • I have this chair, I paid $80 for it on special, so this is a great price.

Although I personally wish I purchased something with more padding, but I guess its personal preference.

    • How is the quality? Quite hard is it?

      • +1

Quality is good for the price. Its not hard, but not as good as a more expensive leather chair.

      • +1

For $50 this is a freaking unbelievable steal. Gf bought a similar chair from officeworks for $80 and this one is so much better its not funny. Buy it!

  • hmm if this is 'premium' what about chairs like Herman Miller…
    looks decent for $49 still

    • Herman Miller make some damn fine chairs. We have the Aeron's in the meeting rooms at work and they are to die for. However, they also make some rubbish. If your in Melbourne go to Costco and try the Herman Miller Caper hard backed chair they sell. It is junk and it is over $300!!

      • The chair i'm sitting on now is from office works, it costs $250. it broke on its first week; was given a replacement with no questions asked. broke on its 5th day. The chair has a weight limit of 180kg and i'm 100+kg; you'd think it would be sturdy. it's going back after i finish my exams. i'll pay extra and get something else.

  • not avail in all states, i think no aldi here

  • +1

Key quality issue with cheap office chairs the padding under the fabric. If it's anything like some Officeworks models, it'll be comfy at first but the cheap foam will flatten with use and you'll start feeling the hard part underneath.

    • Thats exactly what happened to mine :)

      Still good for $50

    • Mine's like that. But considering I paid $100 years ago it doesn't seem so bad.

I'd love me some Herman Miller but at $1000+ a pop, not everyone can afford it.

That said, if you find Aeron chairs at 50% off make sure you post it here ;)

      • Thing is, $1000 chair will last you 10-20 years. My Aeron still looks new after 8. A $100 office chair will feel comfortable for 1 year at most imo. So in long term its a pretty good investment for higher quality chairs.

        • Where did you get yours? I've been looking everywhere but they're so bloody expensive. Considering getting a cheaper chinese knockoff.

          • @Livert: Got it during the time when there were heaps of GRoup buys on OCAU and Whirlpool. I miss those days.

            • @zhenjie: Yes, I agree with you that since it's good for so long, it's a worthwhile investment.

However, not everybody has $1000+ spare cash laying around at once is what I'm trying to say.

  • I'm quite lucky in that I was able to buy a quality leather chair very cheap from a normal retailer. The only negative I had with mine is the feet are quite long.

  • I started with the kitchen wooden chair then upgraded to an IKEA $220 chair.
Now I have no doubt as long as you don't shop at rip off places like Harvey Norman, etc. for a chair, you get what you paid for.
This $50 is only as good as what you would expect typically from Aldi.
Looking at getting a Herman Miller Aeron, just need to save up as I got quoted $1320.
It might not be 26x better than this Aldi chair, but even if it was 10x better, I'm happy.

  • Since all foam will compress over time someone should just invent a chair with replaceable pads. Foam costs next to nothing and it's amazing what prices it's inflated to to justify a better quality tag. Keep in mind that a cheaper chair can be replaced many times over with new models with new gas struts, etc compared to one expensive model but always try before you buy or make sure they have a good return policy (like Aldi) in case it doesn't suit your body size/shape.

    • That's why premium chairs use mesh, or high quality padding that doesn't pack out.

  • I was sitting on one of these the other day and they seemed pretty smart, nice and high too.

    • I was at Ikea tonight to look at these chairs.
They are alright for their asking price.
Mind you, the headrest isn't leather. So they skimmed out on some bits.

      • Doesn't look like you can adjust the lumbar support on that one either but if it's in the right place for you…

  • Anyone knows if officeworks sells this same chair?

    • I bought one that looks pretty similar at office works last week for around $199 or similar. I don't think it was identical, so if you're thinking price match - it would be unlikely.

      • Thanks jason, I did think of pricematching.. not my luck then :p
