Is the JOHNNIE WALKER explorer club genuine? As far as i know those are exclusive for duty free sale.

    • I called Dan Murphys. they dont stock Royal Route at all!!!

      • Because the Explorer club collection is exclusive to airport duty free sales or duty free shops. Thats why i was asking how is this genuine especially considering the price is really similar with duty free prices where there is no duty to be paid on alcohol?

        • Hey Bnjam3 - they may get away with this as DUTY FREE ONLY might apply to 1 litre bottle, while the 750ml you can get anywhere. I found this out when traveling in June this year, the duty free sales guy was pushing me towards a 1 litre bottle of scotch which was DUTY FREE ONLY, yet I already had one at home but only 750ml.

        • @HSV_GTS: as far as i know all the explorer club collection is exclusive travellers at suty free hence the name. But yeah it could be as you said.

I'd say you might find that these guys (Kollaras/Neotrade) are the ones importing/supplying the duty free stores…

      • Yeah but i would assume that Jhonnie Walker is selling to them on the condition that Explorer club is exclusive for duty free stores not normal stores.

Gooddrop - what are your regular prices on these 15 scotch's? As your 'sale' could be misleading to consumers.

For example: As per google cache for your site - the Johnie Walker Explorer Club was the exact same price of $129.99 back on 28th August 2016.

As per ACCC misleading prices may include:
promote a ‘sale’ or ‘special’ price which is not in fact a temporary sale price, thus creating an unwarranted sense of urgency to make an immediate purchase.

Thanks . I called Dan Murphy's and they price beat it by $1.

Dan murphy is eating the market with their price match and price beat. No one should buy from them unless Dan Murphy comes up with their own deals instead of just beating others which cause other business to lose sale and go out of business.

Ahhh Dan comes up with their own sales all the time, sign up to Dan's emails or join Dan rewards to see them or do a simple search on OzBargain will show you.

Do you not shop at Officeworks, The Good Guys, Bunnings etc as well? all price match and in fact beat the competitors pricing by more than what Dan usually does

        • I buy from the cheapest available price. I only use price match if the item is out of stock or the nearest available stock is over 40min drive. Officework and the Good Guys is not the cheapest and they can be very expensive sometimes. Dan murphy want you to think they are the cheapest just because they are beating other shops. Here is an example of 5c difference. I'm pretty much sure that Dan Murphy will jack their price back on the next day firstchoiceliquor ending their special.

        • @Bnjam3:
It doesn't matter if they are expensive they will still price match/beat. If they are not the cheapest and expensive they will match within their guidelines very simple. Yes Dan wants you to think they are the cheapest because and beat other shops pricing because they do, yes Dan will jack their price back once the sale at the other place finish. That is what a price beat means, they aren't going to keep it that way for life, much like the sale they are matching. They guarantee everyday lowest prices than you can get elsewhere. All pretty simple and not sure what the issue is. First choice also price match yet its just a problem when Dan does it.

Dan also make their own sales but are smart enough to run them as member only sales, this means places wont price match it as when they call they will get the RRP.

Bottom line is people shop where its convenient. Price matching is done at a lot of stores these days yet Dan is the one that always gets flack for offering customers the best price they can.

  • @Bnjam3 - yes all of our products are 100% genuine. We do procure these for duty free outlets as well as our direct to consumer site.

  • @HVV_GTS Our Regular list price on the Royal Route is actually $199.99 and has been marked down through the lead up to Fathers Day and into this weeks offer as it was so popular. Hope that helps.
