  • Stamford or Stanford?

    • Thank you for fixing the typo on Brock Turner's alma mater. Stamford University is in Bangladesh.

Good stuff. Just found out you can watch from Youtube as well. I have downloaded all the sessions and will watch them from my TV.

Plus for the course, it will be useful for a noob to learn the technicalities (Read how camera works, aperture, exposure, DoF etc.)

But I don't think photography can be taught!

I absolutely believe photography can be taught. Maybe I won't reach an elite standard, but I can definitely improve my skills so that my photographs are more pleasing to me.

    • Can be taught quite easily. Depends how applied the student is.

      • Depends on how you look at it.

        • Can you learn enough to make a career out of it, make technically perfect photos? May be yes.
        • Can you be a Ken Rockwell? Definitely yes!
        • Can you develop the eye for photography, see what others don't see and make a good, great photo out of usual daily stuff?
No, whatever courses you take, be it from Google or Stanford.

From a brief look this is very good stuff but a bit dated. Still talking about about CMOS vs CCD as if CMOS is new and not used much yet. Level of details seems very good and not too difficult to grasp. Good post.

  • Hopefully this means we no longer need 101 photography course from Amazon or that hooly site since we have a Stanford professor teaching us

  • These are not working at the moment. There is a message posted that says the server is overloaded.
