    Probably worth to pay a few bucks more for a Mali450 gpu. Eg a S905/S905x.

    Can someone recommend me one of these models that would be suitable for my mum? She's computer literate but the simpler the machine the better. Ideally just a box where she can use a streaming site.

      Maybe a Beelink MX III. It's got the S905 that MadMaxBargainRoad alluded to above. They've got some good reviews but the Kodi developers hate these boxes because they often come loaded with pirate add-ons. Most of the gurus on the Kodi forums will advise against getting Rockchip.

        How would that compare to me setting up a NUC style PC box that she can hook up to the tv ?

        I don't mind price (as its a gift for mum) if the better solution costs more

          Assuming that you've got Kodi in mind, you should probably go to http://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=112. Go to the post in the Sticky section that says 'START HERE' and… start there. :) You'll probably learn that there's no best solution. It depends on what you want it to do for you. The Beelink is discussed in the Budget AML S905 players thread. I'd probably get something like that, but I'm cheap. The Nvidia Shield is pretty popular if you don't mind the price tag. The Wetek products are well-supported and should work 'out of the box'. The NUC-type solutions may be overkill for Kodi, but after an hour or five ploughing through that forum I'm sure you'll know more than me. Good luck!
