Everbuying Item Arrived Soaking Wet, What Can I Do?

I picked up a dashcam recently from Everbuying and the package arrived soaked through.(See: http://imgur.com/a/6iLxE)

I've been in contact with their support, requesting a full refund or replacement. They asked if the camera works to which I replied that the camera is water damaged and I don't care if it works because it's lifespan has likely been reduced. All of the USB cables had water in their packaging.

They've offered a $10 store credit as "The shipping company takes full responsibility" even though I purchased "insurance".

What should I do for a resolution? It was purchased via Paypal but I would rather use a chargeback as a last resort.

That made me lol. I guess they think store credit is like saying that they refunded the shipping costs since it got wet and that if the item is damaged is irrelevant.

eb has pos. so this is your only option.

"The shipping company takes full responsibility" even though I purchased "insurance".

have you filed a claim with the carrier?

    • It depends.
Sometimes it is the person who sent the item that needs to claim for the insurance.
If this is the case, or if the insurance claim is going to be lengthy… it's not an option.

I would have you message the seller, and "remind" them that you purchased insurance with the product.
      See what they respond with.

If all else fails, open a dispute with PayPal/eBay.

    • I don't even know who the carrier was. The package was dropped at my front doorstep (It didn't rain that day).

Is it even my responsibility to chase that up?

      • I don't even know who the carrier was.

have look at the consignment #.

You didn't order a splash cam by mistake did you?

  • Contact the everbuying rep

  • IIRC, you're the second person in the last week or so to complain about a wet shipment from EB!

OP is same person from the deal thread.

      • Yeppers. I posted that as soon as I received the item, assuming EB would be easy to deal with for what a simple problem.

      • Thanks, I couldn't remember where I saw that…old age must be finally catching up with me! :)

Seriously though OP, my advice is just to raise a PayPal dispute, you'll find that prompts most retailers to honour their obligations if they're stuffing you around, because they know PP will most likely side with the buyer if push comes to shove…plus, it doesn't stop the retailer from making good; in which case you just notify PP it's resolved.

Not really everbuying's problem. Doubt they posted it like that

Everbuying ships the item - it is their responsibility. They should be taking it up with the shipper not the customer.

The fact that insurance was purchased and isn't being used for some reason simply means the insurance is a scam.

So Everbuying is attempting to scam this customer that they have charged shipping insurance for.

  • Wow, never heard of something like this before. Please do update us on it.

  • sounds like everybuying insurance is worthless, as is their customer service

    • I'll give them one thing though, when I found out (here - they didn't do us the courtesy of letting customers know) they couldn't complete my order for the same dashcam, after I told them I did not want the dodgy replacement model or refund in imaginary EB dollars/points, they did very promptly refund to my PayPal account…probably one of the fastest I've experienced, and a good deal faster than eBay…so kudos to them for doing that right at least.
