Central Otago Pinot Noir Sub $18 @ Cracka Wines

30

Seems to be the 'Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir' of 2014 vintage.

Well priced (Dan Murphys are selling it at $ 21.90) and decent reviews. A lot is made these days of Medals won by wines judged at Wine Shows.

Personally, I look for the Trophy winners.

There are hundreds of Medal winning wines at every wine show, but Trophy winners are select or rare and rarely discounted.

But, if you are in the market for a good, reasonably priced Kiwi Pinot Noir, this one is worth considering.

  • Sorry I must clarify that Cracka claim that it is a Gold Medal winning wine.

Lest, I gave the impression that it is a Trophy winner.

  • Seems like a reasonable price, it's available for $18.99 or $225/12 at Wine List Australia. http://www.winelistaustralia.com/wines.php?pid=3572&page=252…

A trophy winner is just the top (or only) Gold medal winner in a particular show/class, maybe a point or half a point in it and only the opinion of a bunch of judges tasting a few hundred wines in a day. A trophy winner in one show may not even get a gold medal or even any medal in another show.

  • And, looks like Kemenys has it even cheaper at $ 16 and though it comes with the Mud House label, it is one of their 'Secret Wines' - I am told.
