Coles Flybuys Offer Is Lame

I received an offer from Coles Flybuys to spend $40 or more each week for 3 weeks at Liquorland and receive a $50 Liquorland voucher..

So, given that I drink alot of 700ml Cointreau I decided to see if this is worth it.

Liquorland have it for $59 (usual price)
BUT
Dan Murphys have it for $46.95 (usual price)

= a difference of $12.05

I can also buy from Dan Murphys using a Woolworths eight card at 5.3% discount…so I save about $3.00 on a $50 gift card.

That means the Cointreau from Dan Murphys cost me approx $43.95 (say $44) compared to Liquorland $59, quite a difference.

So buying a bottle each week from liquorland for 3 weeks costs me $177 , then I get a $50 Liquorland gift card from Flybuys…hmmmm

or

I can just buy 3 bottles from Dan Murphys at say $44 = $132

From what I could see, the Coles Liquorland offer saves me about $5 , compared to buying elsewhere. Or am I missing something?

        Dan Murphy, First Choice both do price matching

        haven't tried liquorland but considering they are firstchoice then I don't see why they wouldn't

          Liquorland don't price match, BWS don't either.

          If you want price matching then head to Firstchoice (Coles) or Dan Murphys (wW)

    yep, the three hours it took to work it all out, but don't worry, i actually tried to get FC to PM LL, but they wouldnt, so im missing more…

      I had them price match about a year ago. LL were clearing out stella artois long necks. I took a photo of the price tag and went to FC and they were like"yeah, cool".

    Don't forget you will end up with 4 bottles for $186 with the Liquor Land offer as you have to spend the bonus $50 gift card there as well. Also Dan Murphy's does 7.5% cash back for spirits when ordering online which would equal another $14 off.

    Not everyone buys Cointreau. We're going for the deal too. Used 4 liquorland dockets from Coles receipts where you could get a 6 pack of beer or cider for $10. So we got 4 packs of stella, that's a case for $40. Normally they retail for about $52 for a case and I haven't seen it fall below $40 when it's on special. Do it for 3 weeks, we'll have 3 cases of stella. Normally that'll be $156 but with these dockets, it'll be $120. Subtract the $50 voucher so it'll be $70 for 3 cases or $23.33 per case. That's a pretty good deal.

      You will have to spend the $50 at Liquor Land so will end up with 4.25 cases for $120 or $28.23 per case.

        True. We don't need to spend it all on beer though.

        If you decide to use the $50 voucher to pick up some half price or close to half price wine, then this offer is in your favour. Even buying half price wine at $40 a week for 3 weeks, you'll end up paying $120 for twice the amount of wine compared to the normal price. You'll have that $50 voucher too so even more wine.

        Bad thing is it won't do your brain cells and liver any good :(

      Shame it's "brewed under supervision" in NSW, and not imported.

      I'd hapily consider paying full price for the real Belgium deal.

    Here's a little trick nobody has mentioned before on Ozbargain - you can use the flybuys offer on Liquorland warehouses, they pricematch like First Choice (essentially they're First Choice branded as Liquorland). There's one near my place at Concord NSW. I have no idea where others are though.

    Thanks for everyones comments…Looks like it's Dan Murphys for me…Liquorland will NOT price match, I just rang and asked my local Liquorland.

    The only time it would be good to use such a gift card offer for me would be if something I wanted at Liquorland was on a good sale, which they rarely are.

    Oh well..

    The beer idea sounds good using the shopping dockets…but i dont have 4 each week for 3 weeks = 12 dockets :(
