iPad Air External Drive? Equivalent to an Android USB OTG?

Hi Good People of OZBargain!

Hope you can help me find a cheap equivalent of USB OTG for IOS Device which takes in a lightning cable.

My wife is complaining that her iPad doesn't have enough storage for her to watch her media clips.

Does some sort of thing exist btw?

Thanks in advance!

=)

  • "My wife is complaining that her iPad doesn't have enough storage for her to watch her media clips."

if just for watching, why not consider go for android. easy to copy paste dragging movies into microsd card that goes like $22 for 64GB now. she can have multiple cards for each tv series as well.
imagine how much you need to pay to get that extra 64GB built in into ipad.

    • why not consider go for android.? The problem is she already got an iPad which we are trying to solve a dilemna of extra storage.

Buying a new device will not solve our problem but thanks anyway for the advice.

    • i actually have the same problem with my mum, we gave her an ipad years ago for her birthday and passed down one of our old iphones. She has began documenting her life by taking pictures in her ipad (she carries it everywhere) and says she cant do without the photo streaming between devices. Her phone is dying pretty soon, really pains me to think about forking out $700+ for a device that she only uses to take pictures, play candy crush and go on facebook. but shes my mum so… T_T she wont even consider moving to an android tablet because she wants to facetime her family. gaah

  • Sandisk make one http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/sandisk-ixp….
Maybe something cheaper is available, but this will get the job done. Expensive though.

    • Yep it's nice if they have it in stock =(

there are different sizes as well. I have a 16gb one, no idea where it is tho.

  • Ebay has heaps of Chinese Isticks what accept sd

  • Does your wife watch these media clips on the go? If not, then house the clips on a PC instead and stream them to the iPad using an app like Air Video HD.

    • Good suggestion but would it be much better to transfer it on a USB and plug it in on the TV for a much better viewing experience at home?

My wife would only use it when we are out and about. thanks!
