Gutter Guard Installation

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone out there has installed there gutter guards and can recommend anything, just got a quote of $2000 to install some at my house. But I don't think that stuff actually cost that much or is that hard to install.

If someone has done it themselves and it has worked over the years, please share your experience.

Thanks

  • Which product did you get a quote on?

    • I don't really know what product it is, gutter guard guy came and had a look and gave me a price.

  • I haven't used this as there are no trees over hanging my house nor have I ever seen leaves in my gutter.

but this product from bunnings for $27.45 for 5metres (5 x 1metre lengths) looks reasonable and would be bloody simple to install. - just slot it into the gutter

I've used the fireproof metal equivalent product and installation was far from simple. The springy nature of the gutter guard, the sharp edges and working around the gutter brackets of a U shaped gutter all while up a ladder made for a frustrating and painful experience that I wouldn't recommend.

I have also used the plastic version in a square shaped gutter on a flat roof that I could stand on for a much better result and experience.

So it depends on the type of gutter, the accessibility and the pitch of the roof. Your results may vary.

    • I use this at the moment on the side of my house where the neighbours tree hangs over my roof. Lots of small leaves and nuts still manage to get through and the guard doesn't hold in place for too long ie., you have to get up the ladder about every 6 months and push it back into place because of the way it fits in the gutters.

  • I got a quote recently for $3400. 2 storeys high ceiling. using aluminium mesh. Brisbane.

    • From google all types of gutter guard need regular maintenance. Having the gutter cleaned and tiles checked is $380.

I am still deciding to have gutters cleaned every 1 or 2 years or install the gutter guard which still needs some cleaning for the next 10 years.

  • Your topic is very informative. It's a welcome change from other supposed informational content. Your points are unique and original in my opinion. I agree with many of your points. Me and my wife and I haven't cleaned our gutters in our new home and we had no idea that it could be a big problem. That's why we hired a professional experts if we find it too risky to do ourselves. This company there service is outstanding and amazing http://www.northcarolinagutterscompany.com.

Hey there! I totally understand your hesitation about the quote you received for gutter guard installation. $2,000 does sound pretty steep!

I actually had a great experience with Brisbane River Gutter Clean. They offer some really affordable, high-quality options. Since I'm not sure where you're located, I'd recommend checking out on their website https://brisbanerivergutterclean.com.au/ in case they offer hteir services in your area.

They offer their services across Brisbane mention the quote you got and see if they can also improve it.

I'd highly recommend giving them a call. Their team can walk you through the different guard options and provide a custom quote for your home.
