Outdoor Spa Usage and Maintenance Help

I recently bought a house that has an outdoor spa and I don't know the first thing about using or maintaining it. I feel like I almost need to take a course to get the info I need to bone up on how/when to fill/drain, ph levels, testing strips, filters, etc.

Tried to do a bit of google searching but getting a bit frustrated. Any suggestions or resources that others think might be helpful?

Thanks!

  • AquaChek make test strips and they have a good book which comes with the test strips called "The Complete Guide to Pool and Spa Care".

Basically there are multiple systems that help to clean and sanitise the spa. e.g. filters, chemical (chlorine/bromine), and ozonators.

  • For pool advice resources I use the troublefreepool forums. they are the best resource for pool testing advice very helpful moderators and community.

Clear choice labs sells test kits in Australia, I use them they are the same as Taylor kits but easier to get hold of.

  • When we moved into a house with a pool I contacted the local pool shop and they sent someone out to show me how to drive it, for a fee of course. I think it was money well spent. It was about $150.

Try your local pool supplies shop and ask if they do anything similar, but for a spa.
