  • Any reason why you wouldn't just buy a SIM for your phone and use the Phone as a hotspot?
There may well be a valid reason - like it's a Work phone and I need to be contactable on my work number.
But for private use, you probably want to leave your number at home and rely on local SIMs when you're travelling.

    • +1

I want the 4G wifi dongle always on and connected at home to the socket.
I already carry 2 phones when travelling overseas and don't want a 3rd one.

  • I use an Hauwei E5573, which came unlocked by default. If you have any use for a USB dongle rather than a wifi one, the Telstra Pre-Paid MF823 is a good option, and can be unlocked for about $10.

    • is the Huawei E5573 an Optus one? does it have all popular bands?
what is the advantage of Telstra MF823 over Huawei E5573?

      • If you look at ths specs, you'll see they're for different uses. The E5573 shares the 4g connection over wifi, and the MF823 is a USB dongle for plugging straight into a computer etc.

There's some details on the E5573 here: http://www.4gltemall.com/blog/huawei-e5573-lte-mifi-hotspot-…

        • I want to share the net across home with multiple users.
so I guess a wifi dongle like E5573 is what I need.
