JB Hi-Fi 20% off DVDs and Blu-Rays

350

20% off DVDS & Blurays starts Thursday ends Sunday excludes discs in the 25% off Top TV show promotion so no double dipping :(
as usual excludes pre-orders.

There's nothing stating that it excludes The buy 2 get one free so that should result in some nice bargains.
They also have a bunch of bluray movies priced $5.58-$7.98 $7.98-9.98

So it would seem that JB are not running this like all their previous sales and are excluding anything already in a promotion and anything new. Well that doesn't leave much does it :( I've half a mind to delete this post altogether as there doesn't seem to be any bargains and I sure don't wont to reward their behaviour with advertising.

I'll leave it up for a little while and see if anyone finds anything worth buying otherwise it's adios both to the bargain and for me to shoppping at JB :(

  • Edit Thursday afternoon the website has mostly been corrected and prices are now reflecting the 20% off including those in the Buy 2 get one free but there are still a small handful that are still not showing the reduced price, have at it :)

    • Did they increase the price of Batman?

      • Nah i was calculating without 20%.. now cheaper at $8.50 as its part of 2 get 1 free.

It's not showing the 20% off for the b2g1, neither for the movies on that list by themselves or as a 3 pack. It is discounting the least expensive, though. Hopefully they fix it soon as I want to buy Hugo 3D and a couple more.

Not a bargain sadly. This is their worst yet.

Looking at the fine print on the banner it apparently excludes all the existing discounts AND newish releases. Eg New Guys is a few weeks old, and excluded. And the stuff like those 25% off popular tv shows - they have all raised in price, and are not discounted any further. Eg Big Bang Theory S9 was 24.98 this morning at 5am, now with the "sale" is it $27.98. Similar with Supernatural s11. And something like Point Break, which is not on any sale at all, and is NOT A new release, is not even discounted. Where is the ACCC… :P This is looking like their worst sale yet.

There seems to be a glitch with the '25% off top TV shows' in that it's only showing a 20% discount. The prices themselves haven't really been raised. I'm sure if it's pointed out to staff they'll correct it for you.

Those $12.98 blu-ray i want is the same price I checked last weekend. They are more than 5 year old movies. Extremely disappointing sale.

  • Well, at least they took the banner off the mobile site, so maybe they are going to be fixing those non-discounted items. Fingers crossed.

    • You are right - they pulled it from the PC site also. I hope these pricing messes have all been mistakes. The text excluding the 25% off TV series combined with price increased though doesn't leave me with much hope though.

    • EDIT: double post from I guess a server error

  • I know they would do 20% off before the promotion ends, so i am waiting to B2G1F. However, this time they changed it, i did not see any discount, even on 4k uhd bluray. What's wrong with JB? No discount for 25% tv series, i can understand, but not apply for b2g1f, it is strange.

OK - called up JB Nunawading - spoke to Courtney in DVDs - 20% off DVD and BLU RAY is definitely ON!
Also, the 20% Discount applies on top of the B2G1F deal -
The site should be updated shortly me thinks!

  • +1

I can't see 20% off on any products anymore on the site (PC). Perhaps they've disabled the whole thing until they fix discounts?

    • Edit: Batman V Superman (3D), and Star Wars: TFA (DVD) were the vary rare ones I could see showing a discount. Even older & non-B2G1F titles still at full price.

  • It is on in-store in Sydney CBD with the exclusions as mentioned by OP (25% off tv shows and preorders)

  • +2

No 20% off banner on web site. I'm sceptical about this deal, till I see this and discounts appearing on the web site.

  • Starts Thursday as in today ? Or is it instore only ? Batman link at top of page shows as $15.98.

UPDATE: 20% advertisement at top of the page also just vanished !!!!

    • I just noticed it's disappeared too, was there earlier this morning

Thumbs up to melmac77 for the revised listing :) Made me smile

  • I have just visited Jb at Sydney CBD. Staff I talked to have no idea there is such 20% off instore. They look at me like I am making this up myself. This is the store in the Arcade that you need to walk down the stairs.

  • Sweet. Finally time to get The Ties That Bind CD/Bluray pack.
Was never in previous sales but twice now I've been told at the next sale ask a manager to mark it down.

Just spoke with someone at the store and they said that the website is having some issues with the 20% off, apparently working to fix it so it definitely will be going online they are just not sure when exactly.

    • So it was working in-store fine (not like Sydney CBD as coprocessor8087 posted above)?

  • They told me to come into store and buy as its all working OK so guess they aren't having problems.

    Not eta advised

  • anyone know if 4K Blurays are included??

    • yep. however some 4k blu rays are cheaper at Sanity if you have one near you…

  • The website has been updated properly and all prices have been adjusted for the sale.

It is so hard to tell. Stuff in that TV sale like BBT S9 that was $25 yesterday, $25 at 5am this morning is now $26.24 - maybe they raised the full price on those items. At any rate, over half of the items in my cart are more expensive than they were yesterday, even with the "discount".

      Ah well.

      • +1

Everything that was in my wish list last week is now reflecting the 20% off including items in the Buy two get one free and the titles that were in the big movie sale. Also BBT S6 is $20.24 not $26.24 :)

hmmmm seems like they are still processing the update there are some titles in the big movie sale that are yet to reduce for example Marathon man

        • S9, I said :( You got my hopes up momentarily :p

Hmm. Maybe they are still fixing it.

        • @Mobe1969: Lol here I am thinking you need a specsaver bargain and turns out I'm the one who's blind :( Sorry!

        • +1

          @melmac77:
          Hah hah!

I do think what they have done is just wrong. They went and increased the full price of a lot of items this morning. Someone on blu-ray.com bought Teenage mutant ninja turtles 2 3d yesterday for $35 yesterday, at JB. Today it is discounted to $36…

If it was the same price as yesterday or this morning, and they just excluded it from the 20%, that would be disappointing, but understandable. But more expensive? That has jumped into ACCC territory.

        • +1

@Mobe1969: not sure if you checked this again but its only $28 for the 3D, picked it up before :)

        • @xpwdx:
Ah you are right. That must have been before the correction they posted.

However, they have seriously fd with the 25% off TV series

  • Sale is on in store, albeit with smaller banners than usual.

  • Yeah sweet got myblocal jb to keep aside for me each of following bluray at $8.50ea

    Hateful 8
    John wick
    Mi5 rouge nation

Anybody in WA want to split the Wire boxset, comes to $53ea for bluray?

    • -3

John Wick….. even $8.50 it would still be a waste of $$$

    • Thinking Hateful 8, pumping iron and ……got no 3rd film!

  • +2

Jack up those prices JBHiFi, jack em up!

  • +1

It's really strange, I can't help but notice that they actually seem to have raised the standard price on a lot of the more recent releases, so that the discounted price is much similar to the previous actual retail price.. Similar to all those ebay stores when a 10-20% off coupon is announced. I've never noticed JB do this before! Very disappointing..

    Exhibit A

    • Yes my feelings exactly. I'd be disappointed but OK if they were the same price with the "sale". But more expensive? What the XXXX?

  • One movie I wanted to get was in the B2G1F selection but with the announcement of the 20% off sale has now been removed from the B2G1F.

Typical JB Hi-Fi, so instead of spending $25.60 I'll now only be spending $20.80 tomorrow.

  • How often do these 20% off deals come around? I have seen them a few times and wondering when next one might be?
Im interested in an item but ideally prefer to grab when its got the 20% off.
Is it roughly every few months or longer?

    • They don't have a set pattern like every 8 weeks we will have a sale but they do tend to keep to the same week every year so we are due one approx the second week of November for reference these are the previous dates that I have down there may be a few that I missed
