hi guys,
i updated my iphone 5s to ios 10, and noticed that on my lock screen , under the time and date has some chinese characters…. im not asian, phone language is english, calendar is gregorian… any ideas how to remove it?
dont have chinese/japanese keyboard, nothing like that installed.

just checked everything is set to english… tried restarting a few times… dont really want to restore.. not a major issue, i only get the chinese on lock screen, just annoying

Hmmm ..odd, maybe try switching the calendar from Gregorian to Japanese or something… then lock the phone… then switch it back to Gregorian and see if it sticks.
thanks Gravy, tried the budhist,restarted, tried japanese, restarted, back to gregorian, restarted and still have the chinese… the letters didnt change with any of the other calendars…all chinese :/ i googled to see if anybody had the same issue, only found one person with the same question and the answer was the calendar… didnt work for me

no, was bought in europe , duty free apple stand… i know they are all made in china but didnt think it would come up with the characters ehhehe :)
Access Settings -> Calenders
Tap Alternate Calendars
Switch from 'Chinese' to 'Off'
