Was browsing to see if the recent deals on the Lumia 950/XL from the Microsoft Store had any affect on the prices at Harvey Norman and discovered the Microsoft Display Dock can be had for $98AU + postage. Regular price is $149.95. Not as sweet a deal as getting it free with the purchase of the 950/XL, but still decent value for anyone looking to experience Continuum.

    How is this different from the really cheap OTG type splitter boxes/cables? Those can also hook phones into HDMI displays and have a few USB ports for devices also. Can even charge the phone at the same time with some of the better splitters.

      Not sure about other phones, but the Lumia 950/XL do DisplayPort Over USB-C. I believe this is different from MHL. This also has an in-built quick charger. Will update post to include connectivity specs.

    Continuum is also different to mirroring your screen. It displays like the windows 10 desktop and allows you to plug in keyboard and mouse to have like a desktop experience.

      Correct, it does not mirror it actually uses the monitor as a 2nd separate screen if you have the latest Windows 10 mobile update

      I am waiting for them to include this with the now discounted 950/950 XL on the MS store ($399/$499 - 10% less if you go through student site)

        good luck waiting for the bundle. They already ran out of the cheaper / nastier Screenbeam2 and wont be restocked. I doubt they will stick this more expensive peripheral into an already massively reduced phone.

          they'll either put out a surface phone, or nothing. no chance of any more non-surface phones.

    Any idea if this will work with other phones ie Android devices which support displayport output ?
