Need Three, 13-14" Mid-Range Laptops, SSD, Touch, Win 10, for Office Use

Hi all,

Helping someone I know upgrade their office. Right now, everyone is on something different & they want them all the same for work compatibility reasons.

Trying for "best for the money without breaking the bank".

If the internal RAM/SSD is not upgradeable, then a min. of 8GB RAM w/min 256GB SSD.

Also, looking at MS office for all three. All require Outlook, but possibly only one requires Publisher.

Tossing up whether 365 x 3 would be better than trying to outright go w/2016 H&B x 2 w/1 x Pro, or H&B x 3 w/1 Publisher ($149 dl). No one needs Access.

What's the go currently on this sort of laptop? Are there any beefy, yet light & touch, ones out there?

Ta!

:)

  • buy non touch and buy airbar. It will save you more money

  • First of all practically all touchscreen laptops are junk.
The "feature" is a gimmick, just like the 3D feature in high-end TVs.
    Why?
Windows still isn't that friendly to fingers (unlike iOS/Android), Programs aren't quite taking advantage of it, and finally almost all laptop screens are a glossy fingerprint magnet of mess (also not visible under sunlight).
It is much better overall to get a good laptop and a good touchscreen phablet, no need for a in-between-device.

After many tries, I have found only ONE device that can be a "decent" tablet AND laptop without compromising one over the other.
    Microsoft Surface Book.
'Tis a shame that it costs $3,000.

I will add that PC's are now "locked" into categories, its harder and harder to get decent quality stuff at fair prices.
Especially when you look back on specs and prices from 4-years ago, you realise we were getting the same sort of deals.
However, the industry has moved forward, and hardware has gotten much faster and cheaper since then…but none of the savings have been passed unto the Australian consumer.

  • I'm only doing a bit of footwork for the person & touch is required/utilized in some fashion for her patients.

I've been online & poked through a few shops & just cannot believe that these devices haven't budged much in price compared to & in consideration of the rest?

As you say, the specs aren't really amazing (due to heat/battery life, only on-board graphics), I find sound sh*te, & battery life only "ok" considering the $$$$.

I'll keep looking & double-check the touch needs again. I personally hate touch screens because of the fingerprint mess.

    Thanks for the input all.

    :)
