Where to sell used PC parts? (like CashConverters?)

Where can I sell a bunch of computer parts like RAMs, motherboards, GPUs, CPUs etc for instant cash?

Basically like CashConverters but for computer parts?

I already tried gumtree but it's going really slow and most of the time interested people don't reply after their first message and I got a bunch of stuff so making a seperate ad for everything and looking prices and so on is a lot of effort.

Just want to get rid of all this junk…

  • cashies will give you 10-20% of what it's worth….great if you need to move it quick and don't care about the $$, or it's stolen, otherwise use ebay or gumtree

    • 10-20% sounds absolutely low, you are making gumtree look worthwhile

that's what cashies pay………..go and see for yourself

        Cash converters AKA Crime converters

  • Sell it as one big lot on eBay or Gumtree

OCAU forums, but beware you are selling to internet-savvy people who know their computer hardware, not completely clueless newbies — so don't expect to get a lot back.

On the plus side, no time wasters, and you get a lot of traffic.

    • Would OCAU be a good place to sell higher end headphones? Also my old wants to sell his old iphone 6, would OCAU be a good place to try?

Ive only ever come across OCAU when googling certain pc or related problems and just lurked a few forum pages in passing.

      • I think selling headphones or iphones on the Ozbargain forums would be equivalent to selling on OCAU. Everyone knows their stuff and knows what price they should pay. In other words, expect some tight-assery, but not to the same annoying degree as Gumtree.

On Scumtree you have many time wasters who give you absurd amounts or expect too much. And because gumtree is not a forum, you can't leave or read feedback on that particular person. On OZB or OCAU, you can see how long they've been a member for and view their public profile.

Selling on eBay auctions may get you better prices (somtimes) but certainly not if you have to pay FVF fees.

I have been getting offers on eBay to sell stuff for free (but certain conditions apply). When you do get those, it's a good idea to take advantage of those to sell off popular electronics.

The last offer I got was to sell phones for over a certain amount, and eBay will credit you a voucher.

    • Downside to this - have to be a member for 90 days before you can trade on OCAU. You will be low-balled. No question about this (eg. list @ $200, yeah I'll offer $50 posted etc)

Anything older than 6 months stuff is almost worthless. Why not consider donating it to school or something?

Awesome only 3 months to go and i should be able to get a GTX 1070/1080 as they will be almost worthless by then.

      cheers for the tip.

        Almost.

      • Try to sell 6 month old video card and see how much it is worth.

  • Anything older than 6 months stuff is almost worthless.

Oh cool, could you hook me up with some 7 month old hardware for almost nothing then?

Of course. Hammer used to obliterate items will be thrown in free of charge. Or you can contact NBN headquarters they have plenty going cheap!

Cash converters are the biggest ripoff you can find, even worse than those small pawn shops you find everywhere. If you arent able to sell it on gumtree, that means your prices are too high, dont expect to get the same prices you see on ebay with gumtree, as there is no fees involved, and alot less stupid people use gumtree. Gumtree is also open to scams if you arent careful, not to say you cant get scammed on ebay, but least you got some protections in place.

The ocau crowd is discerning, ocau is propably a great deal safer than gumtree, but expect to get 60-80% of the price you would get on gumtree for most items.

Overclockers.com.au Shop & Swap forums are by far the most popular and best place to sell pc and non pc related stuff.

Only condition is that new members have to wait 90 days before they can buy and sell.

"When you have been a member for more than 90 days, you will see 6 "Shop & Swap" forums and be able to buy and sell on OCAU."

    • '…You entered an email address that cannot be used on OCAU's Forums. Note that free email services such as hotmail, gmail etc cannot be used on OCAU. If you think there's been an error, click here to contact the Administrator. If you are just emailing to tell us why you are special and should be allowed to use a free email service, don't bother!'

Wwtf? Bizzare. What the hell is a paid email service?

Just sign up using the email address provided by your internet service provider.

      • .edu works
        .bigpond.com or tpg.com works

        et cetera

        • Ok ill dig it up.

        • Ok I found my bigpond one, but by default when I made it telstra opted to make it my full name, so yeh. I might email them and ask if theres any way else I can join. Bit of a joke to be honest.

  • How old?

  • I've seen people sell it on here as well, as long as its priced reasonably, it would sell.

  • I often use $1 no reserve auction at eBay if I want to dispose the old computer parts. The thing typically sells for its market value.
