After a Super Stable Phone Holder That Does Not Shake

Dear All

I use my phased out S4 as a dash cam. It works great except the holder that holds the phone is not so stable and shakes very often.

So I am after a quality solid suction holder that doesnt shake much. probably with a reinforce clip of some sort in the middle neck to strengthen.

Any recommendations? similar to the bracket in this deal I'd say https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/266143

As a side, Last time I saw a NRMA service car and they have two super heavy-duty, reinforced holders gripping at the windscreen for holding gadgets, if anyone is aware of that.

Many Thanks!

You want an iOttie imo. Pick whichever one suits you best. I bought the easy flex 3 but the only place to mount it stably is out of reach when driving so when I get a new one it will be the Easy One Touch 2 with extension arm. The build quality is solid but mine has deteriorated from being cooked in the sun, but it still works! (specefically the suction cup had shrunk abit and has needed to be cleaned and reapplied a few times) but its not a big deal.

You place the phone in the mount and by doing so you press a small button and the arm snaps closed around the phone with soft edged grips.
    Good luck!

    • Currently I place S4 near where the etoll tag is (behind rear view mirror), horizontally as a dash cam (dedicated for this use).

Have you tried recording using the mount? As recording is very sensitive to any shaking when car rocks and travels.

      • No lol. Its just there for when I use the phone as a gps or when I play music. I have a dashcam that is stuck to the windscreen in the middle, even that wobbles the video if you hit a bump or pothole hard enough. Are you after some kind of mount that would completely negate any bumps from road travel that would hinder the video quality? If so these are merely phone mounts and Im not sure what exactly you're after.

        • Pothole or bump are OK. As long as it doesnt wobble during normal traveling. CUrrently my 10 buck simple suction mount wobbles even on paved roads so.. DO you think iottie might do the job? btw What dash cam do you use?

          THanks!

        • @melfes: Well I cant really recommend it based on its 'wobble efficiency' rather just its efficiency as a phone mount, sorry cant be more help.

I have a version of the one you linked from gearbest, cant remember which.

You can always use disposable McDonalds cups as phone holders. Ordering soft drinks will prevent you getting any shakes…

Strike cradle with an AudioXtra bracket, I fit these all the time (no exposed holes install), rock solid combo.

    • PV, dude! thanks so much, this is exactly the good news I have been waiting for!!!!! Super awesome!!!

I have got a Samsung S4 to use as a dash cam, Could you please show me a little more how you pair the cradle with Audioxtra bracket? Do you have to drill holes? Thanks!!!

      • All comes down to what type of car you're installing it in. If there's somewhere to mount the phone high enough, then you're laughing. Otherwise, consider a G1W-C or something similar.
