Xiaomi Phone (Global Version) Sale on AliExpress. AUD - Redmi Note 3 Pro $189, Redmi 3S Prime $185, Mi 5 $378 and Mi Max $256

800

Just saw this on AliExpress home page. Sale starts tomorrow (Sep 20).
Here are the four models in Australian Dollars.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro - 2Gb RAM +16GB storage $188.81 (1,200 pieces)
Xiaomi 3S Prime - 3Gb RAM +32GB storage $184.67 (600 pieces)
Xiaomi Mi 5 - 3Gb RAM +32GB storage $377.63 (300 pieces)
Xiaomi Mi Max - 3Gb RAM +32GB storage $256.24 (300 pieces)

I am not sure of the price for all the models but the Mi 5 is great price. I bought it for $520 when it was released.

A BIG SORRY to all. Been busy at work and was not able to check till now. Looks like AliExpress has not managed this sale properly. The link I have provided is still not live. However "netsurfer" has provided some links that match with the prices listed above. It may be the same seller. Sorry I do not have time to check it. Have to rush back to work.
Here are the links (thanks to netsurfer):

  • Neg for awareness

    • Says Sept 20 start date but has not started and is well into Sept 20
    • Cheaper prices as posted by a few people above are not the official global versions but the CN version with global rom
    • Aliexpress being jerks with lack of details and wasting so much of my time
    • I really want a Mi5 :\

Says Sept 20 start date but has not started and is well into Sept 20

Aliexpress deals usually start between 3-5pm AEST.

Cheaper prices as posted by a few people above are not the official global versions but the CN version with global rom

The Global Edition/Special Edition is physically different. It's from Taiwan, it's bigger and supports 4G LTE bands that the Chinese version will never support.

Unfortunately I am not a mind reader.

Exactly! neg awareness to avoid the chinese version.

Guys, I checked with the Seller, she advised that the sale starts at 00:00 US time so in another hour or so.

Again reiterating without fear of negs, do your research before buying. The prices aren't too great. e.g. Mi Max is $189 but usual price is $200 but then consider atleast 30 days of wait before your receive the item.

I'm pretty sure it starts 17:00 Australian Eastern time.
That's when the current deal expires.. Which is pretty good actually.

  • Its live, go go go :)

    • Neg revoked, I've ordered my Mi5

    "Ships within 60 days"?

    • The mi max says ships out in 5 days?

      • This is what I see;
"From China (Mainland) to AUSTRALIA via AliExpress Standard Shipping Ships within 60 business days"

        • Mine says: processing time 5 days. I also paid the $14 for DHL.

  • Payments aren't working for me, getting a "Sberbank is having a system maintenance, which may cause payment failure. Please try again later or choose another payment methods. Sorry for the inconvenience." error when trying to select a payment method. Bugger.

Mine failed the first time But worked after I refreshed and tried a second time.

Assuming they are the same item, this deal actually costs a bit more? Second link is from the deals page.

    • As far as im aware the first is the Chinese version. Minimal differences but differences none the less

      • Looks like both have the same ROM. Essentially, it is the plug that's included in the package. First one is the CN plug (they indicated US plug - smart marketing trick, same shape plug). Second one comes with an EU plug. Both will have a converter. EU version will most likely have everything written in English (box, quick start guide etc…), which will be more helpful.

  • Seems the max is only about $30 saving from regular price. I think I'll wait until there's a good deal on the 64 or 128 GB version

  • Is it just me but the savings aren't anything to write home about?

  • My order was closed with aliexpress requiring an appeal. went to their Appeal site, but always shown "The system is busy. Please try again later".
just seems too dodgy to me.

This seller is really dodgy. Taking forever to process the order. Then, just when the processing time is about to expire, they put in a fake tracking number. Soon after, received a message saying the parcel is lost by the courier and the item I am after is out of stock. The alternative they are offering is cheaper. Very slow, dishonest, bait and switch.

Wish I can negative vote it…

I hope I can get a full refund. There are now other sellers selling the phone I want for cheaper price (and that's with DHL option).

  • Received my Redmi 3S Prime yesterday! Very impressed so far, will probably switch from my Z5C to it as my daily phone. Battery life is insane - on first charge I am sitting at 3 hours screen-on time with 65% battery left, and that's including updating it to MIUI 8, downloading 50+ apps, updating the ~20 that were installed, GPS and wifi on the whole time, Google Now/Facebook/Messenger running, and at about 50% brightness. This battery life will reduce once I put my sim in it, but it should still be amazing battery life.

I installed Nova Launcher straight away to get rid of the iOS-ness of it and to get an app drawer, so now it basically looks/feels like my Z5C.

  • On my first full charge I ended with 9 hours 56 minutes of screen-on time! Absolutely amazing. Second charge I got 8 hours 55 minutes, with location/wifi/google now on 100% of the time, 3G network on (disabled 4G as I get pretty bad 4G reception), and with facebook/facebook messenger/slack/outlook x 2/google inbox/gmail/whatsapp among others all installed, set up, and syncing the whole time. Could not be happier with the battery life and performance of this phone.

Third charge I'm at 80% left, 2 hours 1 minute SOT, 1 hour of bluetooth connection and music streaming to my car, and I took it off the charger about 16 hours ago.
