  • Hope it's not the most popular due to the 4hr run time

I have one battery lasts for an age. Attachments feel a bit flimsy, but no breakages in over two years. Sharp blades though, so be careful if you whipper snip around the power pole.

You wouldn't want to ring bark it!

  • re - shaver shop staff members - just my 2 cents - few month ago I went to Kellyville's shaver shop and they had a 50% promo on an USB powered hair clipper and quite a few of them on display - I looked at it and told the girl in the shop "nice clipper, do you have one that is USB powered? I travel a lot and could use one, so I dont have have to carry extra an charger…" answer was "not we dont", so I grabbed the one on display and looked at it closely and of course it was USB charged/powered…. I thought "OMG, so unprofessional"; and even if I wanted one I didnt buy just coz of that… so last week I went to the same shop and saw a guy there, so I was a bit relieved and I said - "Hey, I am looking for an USB powered hair clipper and he goes "we don't have any, actually they don't make them since USB does not carry sufficient power so they can not make them!!!"… I will never buy in that shop even if they had 1 cent razors and 20 cents new BMW car with it !!! :))))

  • Can anybody confirm…is dual voltage what is required to get these working here without an adaptor? I'm wanting to invest in some Wahl hair clippers but none appear to be dual voltage.

    • I believe so. Thats why I bought it

    • Plug it in, charge it up and then reach for the antiseptic, 'cause this beast is dual voltage. Not really great for wigs or long, thick head hair though.

    • Thanks for the info guys.

Tempting as it's $50 cheaper then at the Shaver Shop but can't imagine the hassles if you needed to make warranty claim.

      • True, but thats the risk with most online purchases that are not from a real store. The way I see it is if it fails in the first year or so I have credit card insurance and if it fails outside of this timeframe then bad luck. Willing to risk it if im paying 2/3 the price. Fingers crossed it lasts 4yrs or so as others have had in previous posts

EDIT: if you want to buy local store. Shavershop ebay have it for 160 and you can get 15% off

not so much a problem with amazon, you can claim through them and they will just replace the whole package if its under warranty, you have to return it but they will pay for the shipping. I did so for some headphones and they even sent the replacement straight away despite not receiving the faulty pair yet.

    • i bought one of amazon a couple months ago, can confirm is dual voltage. all you need is an adapter, also its a really good clipper, way better than my phillips milti

      • why would you need an adapter if its dual voltage?

        • Charger would be US plug not AU

        • @turkz1: Ahh that kind of adapter. Makes sense. Was thinking a voltage step down adapter.

        • +2

@Drifta: Yeah I figured. I believe those are called step down transformers.

    • Works great, I've had this one for a few months and it's great.

  • Any local deals for any wahl designer clipper?

    • I saw wahl battery powered trimmer for $19 down from $35 at Harven Norman in Moorabin yesterday, i think they had a few left if that helps you.

  • 5 year warranty is US only.what warranty do we get

    • None. That's the inherent risk of international purchases. That being said, Amazon certainly put most other retailers to shame regarding warranty. If it breaks, buy another, probably still winning compared to buying in OZ.

      • No local support from Wahl when warranty repairs are required

  • I bought this one from Amazon. Mine is definitely dual voltage. It's an awesome unit. It has some surprising heft.

I found this to be way over rated. Not the best clipper I've used by a long stretch. Struggles to cut long hair. The only good thing about it is the 4 tapering attachments. The 0.3mm doesn't get down low enough. Overall I was pretty dissaponted.

  • Guys honestly, it's worth purchasing it from Shaver Shop.. This is an incredible trimmer. Super reliable and very very long battery life, no kidding. If any issues, shaver shop staff replace it straight away. I always said, if i had to buy another one again, i would happily pay the full price.

  • Wahl Australia will not cover this, and you need to ship back to US for repairs, I had a faulty power button and was only 6 months old and no support from local Wahl even tho US said they should cover it.

    • +1

If purchased through amazon, other users have had a positive experience with them. Faulty power button seems to be common with these though people say its not faulty just hard to use. Assuming yours was worse though

      • Mine the power button wouldnt allow me to turn the unit off, so have to leave it run flat

        • Thats no good, Did you try contact amazon for warranty?

        • @Drifta: Contacted Wahl US, and they said Australia Wahl will cover warranty, and then contacted them with email from US and they refused to cover warranty since not bought in Australia

  • After reading some of the comments and reviews, i personally think the extra $50 you spend buying it locally is worth it if Wahl Australia cover 5 years also?

    • It's not extra $50 though - it's $169

      • My bad. I thought I saw it for $149 last night. Thanks for clarifying.

      • +1

FYI: shavershop ebay is selling for $160 currently plus you can take 15% off if buying through ebay.

  • Bought one myself last time. Can't fault it. Bargain!
