Universal Studios Hollywood Thanksgiving Long Weekend

Hi guys,

So the wife and I have booked our upcoming USA trip this November/December and part of this trip we wanted to go to Universal Studios Hollywood. However, we just looked at our itinerary and realised that we are there on the Saturday of the holiday weekend (face palm) and are worried about massive crowds?

Has anyone been there around this time and/or any recommendations regarding purchasing either Front of line tix at $244.00 each or the VIP Experience tix at $379.00 a pop?

Any info much appreciated cheers.

    I sympathise OP - haven't been to Universal Studios at that time, but when we made our first trip to the US about 5 years ago, we were there for 3 weeks - which included Thanksgiving. I hadn't really thought much about it, as I (wrongly) assumed just the extended "weekend" i.e. Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun would be a holiday period, I didn't realise that the entire week leading up to it was school holidays, and therefore many adults take time off then as well so it seems like just about everyone in the US is on vacation that week!!. Everywhere/everything started getting busy the Saturday before Thanksgiving and continued right through until the Sunday after.

      Yeah bad planning on our part. Just trying to work out whether to go on the Saturday or now Sunday has become an option? I just think that both days would be crazy anyway…

        I wonder if the Sunday might be a little quieter if people are starting to travel home on that day?

      I think we are going to go on the Sunday now of the holiday weekend as SimbaGirl suggested above. We then drive to Las Vegas on the Monday.

        That's cool.
        Why not email them and ask them what it is like on that Sunday?
        I hope I am wrong, but I cant help but think it will still be packed.
