  • Merged from Wyndham - Your Experience with The FIRST Stay

Am travelling with family to Melbourne during Jan , Australian Open days. And am looking at accomodation.
    Came to know about Wyndham.
Any experiences of your first stay with them ??

Wont' really become a member but why not have this 'first' booking to save some $$ !!! Hotels are already so expensive !!

Expect to be harassed on first arrival about becoming a member, but once you tell them you're not interested they'll usually leave you alone til you checkout…then they'll ask again of course.

Do be prepared for their tele/spam marketers on any contact details you give them afterward as well, they're pretty aggressive…other than that they're pretty decent hotels.

      • Suggest you play with the harassment about becoming a member and turn it on them. Ask them how can you make this stay better to prove becoming a member is of benefit? You know make them work for it…….
There are house minding websites that may work for you here!
Look for a hotel out of town a bit. Are you in town long and are you spending most of your time around City or not?

        • I usually have better things to do with my time than to argue the dubious merits of time-share accommodation with commission based sales staff…YMMV, however.

        • @StewBalls: fair enough. You never get anything cheaper or better if you don't ask!

        • @dlf73: Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm all for asking, and I've checked out their memberships, but I've also learned the hard way with Wyndham.

I've booked a few Wyndham hotel stays over the years through wotif/booking.com etc…same spiel every time unfortunately, I've learned to firmly but politely decline the hard sell, and give them disposable email/phone details. You'll thank me for those last two in particular! ;)

        • @StewBalls: cool never stayed in one so will take on board. Thanks. Hope you find something!

  • Find a holiday rental on Gumtree?

There's some 2 bedroom apartments for $150 a night at South Yarra apparently.
