Charging Nexus 6P with Standard Xiaomi 10000mAh Power Bank

I have the standard Xiaomi Mi 10000mAh Power Bank (not the new type-c), I know it won't allow me to charge the Nexus 6P at the same speed as the new type-c power bank, however will this charge the phone at all? As in, will the USB output on the Nexus 6P cable allow me to even use the Xiaomi Power bank? Thanks :)

    As long as you have a USB to USB-C cable then yes it will charge…

    Is that what you're asking?

    • Thanks, I probably should've phrased that more appropriately. I was unsure if whether the Nexus 6P comes with a USB Type-C to USB Type-c cable or just the standard USB 2.0 to Type-C cable…? I am guessing it comes with the latter one..? :)

        It comes with a USB A to C cord, which I use in my Xiamoi 10400mAh pack. It charges fine, not as fast as you'd like, but i can still use it at the same time.

        it comes with both, USB to USB-C and a USB-C to USB-C cable that can be used with the charger because the charger actually has USB-C port instead of USB.

    The 6P comes with 2 cables:
    type A -> type C
    type C -> type C

    So you're fine there.

    • Cheers :) Cause I didn't really want to buy a new type-c power bank as just got the standard one, so wanted to see if it is compatible with the phone

        Also, best phone I've ever owned, so congrats :)

        The type A to C is really short btw

          Really? :) I will probably end up buying longer one from Banggood if that's the case.. thanks

          @stuhtb: yeah don't, I haven't come across a good USB-A to USB-C cable

          Blitzwolf are great

        • @bargainperson: nah uh, they suck, at least the ones I bought from a sale in OzB, it just doesn't charge my 6P like the original cables do :(

        • @enzioFirenze:
          Interesting, mine gets the 'Charging rapidly' text when I use it with a decent AC adapter.

    USB Type C can still operate over the standard USB voltage of 5V, so the answer is yes.

    I have the 16,000mah Xiaomi and it works great with my Pixel C and Nexus 6P
