  • How do these compare to the Z623? I'm new to this speaker stuff.

    • Z623 are more expensive, and 2.1. So will be better, but not really comparing apples

      • -1

I was under the impression that 5.1 is better than 2.1. Or is that not how it works?

        • What's your criteria for better? Better quality (Z623) or better feature (Z506)?

        • +1

Yeah well you get more speakers, but lower quality sound, and pay less money (for this deal)

        • +2

To get the proper 5.1 effect you need to set up the speakers all over the room, which means cables running everywhere.

It's not really practical, and music is only 2.1 so it will only work for DVDs and computer games.

I would go with the 2.1, but this price is very good

          @rememberme:

Two cables behind you isn't the most inconvenient setup and some excellent music is in 5.1. However, I would only recommend this to people who will actually put two speakers behind them. Please folks, don't be that guy with five speakers laying down on the desk in front of the monitor.

  • +1

nice speakers for tv if you manage to hook them up.
    !!! beware: no digital/optical input

you may also price match in officeworks

  • +3

I got mine from officeworks 5 years ago for $49.

    Pricematched logitechshop price.

The sound quailty is so so and you know you pay what you get.

  • For the price (I paid $80 a year ago) they are very good. My son used them connected to his laptop for his 18th party. Normally the are connected to the PC for gaming and media play.

  • +1

I have these. Have had them for YEARS. Never given me an issue. Good for music and games and the adjustable bass is great.

The 5.1 is a gimmick, I have them set up for 5.1, but its not much use. (Battlefield 4 gives me some use)

For under $60 - I'd WELL recommend them.

    • Have you set up surround sound for whatever sound card you use?

      • -1

The sound card might cost more than the speaker if the inboard card doesn't run 5/7.1

      • Just for BF4. To be frank, it really is of little to no value, but that is in part my set up and placement of speakers, NOT limitations.

Next go around, I'll go back to 2.1 for sure.

  • Good as a makeshift sound bar for DSE TV.

  • +1

    These are AMAZING SPEAKERS.

Just got them via pricematch at officeworks (they're $120 there..) and am blasting music rn.

Been waiting for a good deal on speakers for so long. Highly recommended.

  • Mine Logitech 5.1 is already broken.

Some background loud noise during using.

  • Officeworks wont pricematch due to no more stock. Good price though.

    Ladies and Gents.

I just price matched at Officeworks!

Make sure you show them the url on the eb games website as you can no longer find it by search engine.

Tell them there is stock in EB Games Weribee. I called up EB and he told me that.

    BOOYA!!! WHAT A BARGAIN!!!

  • +1

They're great, do yourself a favor and purchase it

  • Thanks just made an over the phone :)

  • Have had these and they sound fantastic. I bought a cheap DAC from ebay to connect them to my PS4 and PC at the same time. The ONLY minor issue I have is that after maybe 2 years of using them, theres a strange static caused by my phones signal, so often when I get a text message the speakers make a buzzing noise a second before my message comes in. I've read online and some people seem to have the same issue

    • Poor (or none) magnetic shielding.

    • Yep, if you switch your phone to Edge mode (2G/gsm), and do anything that involves data transfers (I.e. web browsing), they'll go absolutely crazy.

  • how do I plug these in? i have a standard gaming motherboard for my sound, comes with a bunch of colored plugs

    they go in those?

    • +1

      Yeah, there are 3x 3.5mm inputs - 1x front, 1x subwoofer, and 1x rear.

  • +3

Pmed at officeworks. Playing an movie on it now. Great speakers for $54! Thanks OP!

  • I am currently using a pair of Creative T40II speaker connected via 3.5mm jack to the TV's 3.5mm earphone jack. Would this speaker be an improvement or not really?

  • +1

Price Matched with Officeworks in Bundoora
Everyone there knows. Get on it.

  • I got mine over the weekend from Officeworks, price matched + 5% I think? Turned out to be $54.xx

    • Me too… for $54.15, they sound fantastic.

  • Amazing speakers. Got them back in 2011 for $49 and still going strong today!

  • +1

Just bought them from Officeworks… PRICEMATCH AND 5% OFF!!!

The tech guy knew straight away why I wanted them :)
