  • Every year there is an insert in the weekends West. Do you know if that was today or last week? Thanks

    • I'm not sure sorry :/

Go to one of the info booths when you get there and get a map/guide. I think they're normally around $1-$2, but includes a bunch of vouchers as well.

Pretty sure the ride vouchers don't normally appear in the newspaper till the week of the show, for those going towards the end.

Got a guide n the vouchers were a bit crap so didn't bother with them. Also if you buy the follow the yellow brick road, there's a map in there (I accidentally bought both lol).

        • Oh cheers, we were gonna do Yellow Brick Road :)

        • @Spackbace: How much is the yellow brick road this year?

        • @voteoften:

          $12.50

        • @Spackbace: Wow, I just went to the website, couldn't find the cost. Googled it and the website weekend notes says its $10 this year.

        • @voteoften:
Yup, it's $12.50 and u get a juice n beef sausage @harvey beef (so good), fruit and also make your own plant to bring home lol it also gets you into areas where there's free play gyms :)

A tip for toilets is when you enter the main train station entrance n turn left, there's a permanent coffee shop and just behind there is a set of relatively clean cubicles that no one seems to know about!

    • There was a guide in last week's magazine itself, at the back of the magazine. But I can't remember if it was just a showbag guide or if it had events as well. I think it did.

  • The ones in the west or maybe Sunday times have vouchers where u get extras when you buy the girlie show bags. It is only in the insert that you'll get the vouchers for theses. Thanks spacebace.

    • The show/showbag guide was pretty bad this year. There was only one page devoted to activities, there was no map or anything, and a lot of the showbags didn't list what was in them - you had to rely on a smallish picture that was also misleading because they showed everything even though it was a choice between many items.
Also those coupons for the girly bags were not there this year. Which is disappointing to me, because I liked getting the extra item.

Funny thing also - the perth royal show twitter account tweeted on Sunday to look out for the show guide in Saturday's paper. Bit late to tell people that.

      • Thanks for letting me know the girly bag vouchers weren't there. The free items were generally pretty good, but they were very strict that you had to have the actual coupon. Were there any deals on the girly bags today? 2 firs, buy one get ones? I had my daughter pick up a DB cosmetics bag because I love their tubing mascara. The tubing mascara retails for $15 and the bag was $20. My daughters getting to the age now where the things that don't appeal to me are becoming great secret Santa and extras fir birthday gifts. A good idea to keep in mind for the Priceline bags if you have a teenager.

        • They were giving away free newspaper at the entrance but I didn't check to see if there was a guide in there. The showpo bag was really popular! If u go on the website it lists what's in each bag…but no picture!! So just as annoying. Definitely limited showbags this year, they were all selling the same ones…:(

        • @KupoHo: I saw a photo of the shopo bag and told my daughter she should have bought it. The photo was on the royal show website this morning and a couple of weeks ago.

Hopefully they accept the voucher on the phone! Heading there now. Thanks Spackbace!

These coupons nearly all range between misleading advertising and worthless.

    • If you're going anyway, why not save a dollar here and there? Isn't that the whole purpose of this site, not to pay full price?

    • The only voucher I tried using was the 2 for 1 rides voucher but you actually don't need the voucher. It was super confusing as the place that offered this was super small n tucked away in the far back. There's a bigger "kiddyland" at the front of it that does a happy hr between 3-4 as well and it is 3 for $10 which is what most ppl ended up doing. The annoying thing was they said the prize games were included but they werent. Still a variety of rides for the little ones though :)

  • It looks like it'll be a good show. Pig races and bunny agility courses. I hope they still have the sheepdog demos.

    • They definitely still have the sheep dog demos! And sooo many animal shows/viewings (more than I remember). Not sure if this is the first yr they've had the alpacas but omg my 3.5yo just loved seeing them so much! We actually had discount entry tix that I realised I left at home once we got out of the car so we are going to take him again next wk as there is just so much to do and we didn't get to do everything yesterday. You will have a great time :) (shame abt this horrid weather though)
