Buying A New Car - 2016 Honda Civic RS

Hi,

Anyone (know much/bought) one of the new Honda Civics recently? What to know roughly how much you got it for and what extra's you go thrown in with your purchase. Looking to get one and I haven't been car shopping in over 15 years so not sure about the tips and tricks to get a good bargain.

Thanks…

Buying a new car is definitely not the way to get a bargain. Instantly lose 20%+ value driving off the sales lot.

If you are serious about saving a few dollars, purchase near-new vehicle that is 1 or 2 years old.

Bit hard when the Civic isn't that old….. that said, I did the same, bought a car with very low kms that was a bit over 2 years old, still had factory warranty left etc and paid 60% of the new price.

  • If you must buy new, ensure you enquire at 2-3 dealers, and be prepared to walk away if they aren't offering budging from the stock driveaway price. If they won't move much on price, then haggle for extras such as number plate covers, extra set of floor mats, headlight protectors, window tint, free first year servicing etc etc - stuff that costs the dealer bugger all in the overall scheme of things. Try going towards end of the month too, because if they haven't hit their targets for sales, they are more likely to do a deal so they can secure the sale.
