eBay - Sell Your Phone for a Voucher

I received an email from eBay offering a voucher if you sell an old mobile phone. My question is how soon would they send me the voucher code once I sell the phone? Is it instantly after the buyer has made payment? Reason is because I'm eyeing an item ending in 3 days and would like to use the voucher on that.

  • strange in the tand c's it doesn't actually say, you might have to contact ebay online help to clarify

  • Any value restrictions?

    • This is what it says in the T&C's:

Receive a $20 eBay voucher when you list and sell an item in Auction-style or Fixed Price format worth $200 or more on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period.
Receive a $30 eBay voucher when you list and sell an item in Auction-style or Fixed Price format worth $300 or more on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period.
Receive a $50 eBay voucher when you list and sell an item in Auction-style or Fixed Price format worth $500 or more on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period.
Limit of 1 voucher per person

Did you receive and accept the offer before selling?

      • I listed before the offer, then accepted the offer before the phone was sold. Don't know what will happen now haha.

        • Pretty sure you must make/start the listing after accepting the offer. I had a similar thing with another offer and all the existing ads didn't get, but the new ones did.

  • do you pay a final sellers fee?

    • You would normally however I also received the 10 free listings offer ending September 30 as did most people.

      • most people have no listing fees.

I'm asking about the Final value fee - once the item is sold.

it's great if you get a $20 voucher for selling an item worth over $200 but the final value fee is for a phone sold for $200 is $19.80. - ebay aus fee calculator

so basically this "voucher" will pay for the Final Value fee.

but it won't. you still have to pay the fee. you just have credit.

and then you can only use the voucher on ebay. and then when you use the voucher the person you buy the item off still pays a selling fee.

This is pretty shitty marketing by ebay.

10 free listings meaning free listing fees AND final value fees, according to the T&C's.

        • @H3: my bad. I didn't read the terms and conditions for the 10 free listings. that's not too shabby then. my apologies.
