Vented "fishing" shirts

Never thought I would be asking this as I always thought those fishing shirts were a gimmick and would mock people who wore them (paying $60-110 on a shirt with someone else's advertising). That was until my girlfriend bought me one as we are fishing up northern cape York and dam they are good in the blazing sun for uv protection yet very light and awesome ventilation. Now I am wearing this one for far too many days in a row out in the sun fishing as I just get too hot in other long sleeves now.
So my question is where can I buy these uv30-50 vented long sleeve shirts for a reasonable price. I just like the ones that are a bland grey or light green and look like normal long sleeve button up shirts not the bright coloured long sleeve "high vis" T-shirt style. Any ones from workwear sites or anything as it seems like the fishing branded ones are way too expensive
Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Harbourtown outlet shopping for Nike (Dri-Fit) or Adidas (Climacool) shirts when they are having sales.

  • Are they like the running ones with the holes through them? I am after more of the ones that look like a standard casual shirt so can wear in most days and not like I should be a the gym or going to footy training.
Will have a look at them now though
    Cheers mate

My mother inlaw bought me one of the "world wide sportsman" fishing shirts, is a really practical shirt you could wear fishing or to BBQ. $ 30-50 USD also available on amazon

  • I saw some options on eBay and Aliexpress going back about 6 months ago.
I found the shirts that were not advertised as fishing apparel tended to be more reasonably priced.
From memory I search loose related terms and used google images.

  • Bass Pro shops, cabelas, and many more online stores will have what you want.
They are both very big outdoor stores, but Bass Pro has more of a fishing foundation! Look them up, plus others by googling them, anod look for either bargain Cave or specials sections, etc.
There are other brands of cooling shirts that may do the job like under armour or Nike.

QLDtightarse, I have several Columbia high UV long sleeve vented fishing shirts and I do like them whether I am hiking or fishing. They usually retail for AUD $60-80 however they are regularly on sale for $45-60 at common BCF/Anaconda/Rays Outdoors. Not sure about current prices in DFOs. You may consider checking price in local Columbia stores - they give a discount if you join their $10(?)/year membership. If you are either small or big you may still find them even for $5-7 on clearances online or in stores. I do not like the quality of Shimano (or other fishing label) fishing shirts - however those can be found for $20-30 on sale(RRP is a joke) from BCF/Anaconda/Rays Outdoors. What I regret a bit is buying high UV Columbia short sleeve shirts from DFOs ($25-$30) - as most of hands are open and not protected from QLD sun (unless covered in suncream). However they are still very good in the evening to keep that sweat away - when sun is gone however it is still hot and/or humid.

    • Thanks Savit!
I'm heading back down from the cape now so will have a look around in cairns when we make it there next week some time. I was trying to find some cheap ones online as everything up here is tripple the normal price but couldn't bring myself to buy some no name ebay Chinese ones for $50 a pop without any real info on them. So I'll do the run around down in cairns as I'll still be fishing the gulf and top end for a little wile yet.
      Cheers
