I just recently bought an apple watch series 2 for my partner. Is it worth getting apple care with it?

No, not for the watch…may be for the phone.. I got my phone replaced twice under applecare warranty ( crack screen), they give you a new one rather than repair the screen if you have apple care+.
Nice way to get a new phone … get Apple Cared and throw it at a brick wall. \o/
Looks like Apple care is more like insurance rather than extended warranty.
But you have to pay excess, quite hefty on top of what you already pay for the care itself.
$99 excess if due to crack screen or water damage. I dropped mine afew month ago and after that the phone keep freezing up, even though the external appearance looked normal=> the guy at the genius bar open it up and can't find anything wrong, but it started to freeze up again as he was putting the screen back together so they gave me a new one, without paying excess.

If everything is damaged under warranty, you would not need apple care to get a replacement anyway.
Better way to insure your phone without having to shell out too much is getting an essential amex credit card, which covers you for cracked screens.
@dennis3107: This is the first time I heard of the essential amex cc benefit! Sounds sooo good! Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately we just moved to NZ and I can't find this card here :( not on the amex nz site. Anyone knows anything similar over here? Thanks heaps.
Yea, I saw on the receipt, Apple put down the repair cost at around ~$430 for an iPhone 6 (64G)…I think they are charging the insurance company.
Apple care on iPhone and Watch is called APPLE CARE PLUS, and yes it is an insurance policy.
Apple care on iMac, Macbook Pro etc is an extended warranty.

I have owned two apple watches, most recent one purchased last week (series 2, space Black, SS model)
Apple care is $79 and covers your for accidental damage up to two times in two years (pay $99 and get replacement)The cheaper apple watch (used to be called sport) uses the same glass on screen as the iphone, the SS model uses a much tougher glass, either way it is in my opinion a small price to pay for the cover. If i replace my watch twice in the two years it costs me $276 (including the apple care) the watch was $879 new.
Is the replacement a new watch or refurbished one?
We smashed the screen on an Apple Watch Sport (1st gen) the unit was new, saying that they had only been out a very limited time so its possible a refurb was not available, iphones are always refurbs unless they have no stock.
